She doesn't come with Ken either.

She fakes it with Ken. She comes with G.I. Joe

Caribou Barbie - wonderful
I can mention that safely here (EEA) and get a laugh

In the pub... not so much. Those that have heard of her think she's the best thing since mooseburger. They'd love a Sarah Palin as a candidate here.

Of course she wouldn't work in the UK - hunting is generally lumped in with blood sports and God is never brought into politics. Abstinance-only education is laughed at and creationism is considered the realm of nut-jobs. They just like her because she's conservative and a woman and it makes them dream of the blessed days of Thatcher the milk snatcher.

Barbie didn't kill any Malibus either, but the name worked... Are you suggesting Mattel recall all those dolls because they're misleadingly labeled?

I heard a Republican on NPR refer to Palin-McCain voters. Has the ticket flipped for social conservatives? There is a pretty good chance that McCain will die on the job, are the nutters counting on it?

She herself referred to it as the Palin/McCain administration in her speech yesterday.

Hell--*I* slipped and called it the McPalin ticket in conversation with Tink yesterday.

Why are we still not talking about substance?

Maybe I'll stop talking about her after I make this observation:

I keep drawing parallels to the Pappy O'Daniel/Homer Stokes battle for Governor of Mississippi.

Junior O'Daniel: We could hire our own midget, even shorter than his.
Pappy O'Daniel: Wouldn't we look like a bunch of Johnny-come-latelies, bragging on our own midget, doesn't matter how stumpy.

We must replace "midget" with "woman"; "shorter" with "cuter" and "stumpy" with "cunning."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the next example, I think of Pappy as Obama and Junior as his campaign manager:

Pappy O"Daniel: "We need a shot in the arm. You hear me boys? In the bleepdamn arm! Election held tomorrw, that son of bitch Palin would win it in a walk!"
Junior O'Daniel: "Well' she's the reform candidate, Daddy."
Pappy O"Daniel: "Yeah."
Junior O'Daniel: "A lot of people like that reform. Maybe we should get us some."
Pappy O"Daniel: "I'll reform you, you soft-headed son of a bitch."

Just stuff that runs through my head every time I see the "maverick" commercial.
