I want mistletoe. In this land where everything is possible and consumers rule, why can't I get fresh mistletoe? There isn't even much of the fake stuff about.

Then why is it not for sale commeicially alongside the wreathes and garlands and trees? Unlike Americans to miss a marketing gig! Or is there concern it'll cause the teenagers to have sex or the pagans to be more paganistic?

I might take you up on that, merc, I'm surprised it's so prevalent and yet not avaialable locally to me for money. It's farmed for the season in the UK. Most of us like to hang a sprig here or there hoping for an extra snog or two. That was the main focus of a teenage party. And Office party. And any party, really. After the free booxe....

We have the Dwarf Mistletoe. It's killing our trees.

We used to be able to find it where live trees are sold. Haven't bought any recently, though.

I remember always being able to get it at Frank's Garden Center, but of course they went out of business, what, like 20 years ago?

I suspect that the hand of the FDA is involved since it's poisonous or the FTC because it was endangering the sales of the multitude of plastic mistletoe factories, or the Human Relations Commission in an attempt to stamp out Fundamentalist Druidry.
