Which other shoe are you waiting for?

You know those days when it's suddenly all going too well.....

feeling almost optimistic about my recovery for the firstt time this morning. -not optimistic for a complete recovery, but optimistic that i will learn to cope without too much loss of quality of life.... (I've been a bit bloody miserable recently to say the least)

....and then, I was scheduling an appointment that I thought was goind to be a PITA, and the first option she offered me was PERFECT.

Suspicious Superstitious monster wonders what calamity is just round the corner.....

...I already predicted that would be a snow day (Thursday for those who are keeping track) because I spent an hour typing up the schedule last night (three kids, two adults, one driver, many activities, two schools.....) and that was the craziest day...... (new appt is round the corner from another, starting just a little after, ending a little before, for a kid who was just going to have to hang around during that time...)

We're doomed, right?

here, have some happy, I've plenty to share...... free "poem" for first three posters needing happy.

I need happy. Too many shoes dropping here, enough for a frickin' centipede.

Eta - but I'm glad you have some to spare, monster. Happiness, that is, not shoes.

I have no shoes to spare -Imelda I am not
But my daughter may have a pair, So ortho, fret you not.
Your daughter woes, they soon will pass
She's testing things, a strong-willed lass
if he's a dick, she'll work it out.
she might get bruised, but not knocked out.
Just be there as best you can
With kleenex, bed and a tin of Spam.
see you laughed a little, no?
we all need Spam to help us go.

Okay, you made me smile. Maybe I even laughed for a minute, there. Thanks, monster.

I'm glad you're feeling better about things monster. I hope you can keep up with the new mindset. When something does go wrong - and you know your life is not going to be utopia from here on in, so it's going to happen - try not to throw the baby out with the bathwater so to speak. Just remember life is full of ups and downs, and your baseline is just a bit lower at present. With any luck, you'll gradually get it back up there regardless of the new challenges you have.

I need some happy. Well, some luck, more like. Minifob is starting to experience bullying issues--inevitable for him, to be honest, and not yet enough to address with the teacher, but enough to make him sad.

We're entered into the charter school lottery. We find out March 8. Chances are maybe 1 in 4 for Minifobette, more like 1 in 20 for Minifob. But if either one gets in the other gets sibling preference.

We really need to get in. But I'm so not hopeful for our chances. Appease the universe for us with a lyrical verse, por favor.

That's a 3 in 10 chance, yes? That's pretty good.

They also maintain a waiting list throughout the year and can call kids up anytime someone moves--or is kicked out for unacceptable behavior, namely bullying. The whole philosophy of this school is 'good citizens' first, inquiry-style-learning second. They said last year they had 81 students come in mid-year across all grades K-12. And if we don't get in, of course we can keep putting their names in every year and just keep waiting.

I'll tell what you gotta do,
first things first, you see.
Find out who makes the decision,
and the location of his family.

Bake that guy some cupcakes,
the one with the power to choose.
And while you deliver the goodies,
make an offer he can't refuse.

In clodfobble's house, all the fingers are crossed
So no-one can type properly and no teeth can get flossed
In the backyard the lawn has no grass, just clover
and stems with three leaves are rejected over
those quirkily quadrupedic lucky charms
grown over the rainbow on unicorn farms.
Rabbit footfootfoots decorate every available space
while footfootfoot rabbits at a psychadelic pace.
Leprachauns hide behind all the pottery
all vibes concentrated on the charter school lottery.

I would totally sleep with the director if it would get the kids in. Too bad she's a straight chick.

Thing is, I could in theory have an advantage. My mom is friends with the founder of the school. BUT, the lottery system is a legal requirement, and it's supposed to be a blind draw (kids are assigned numbers, then numbers are drawn, so they really don't know who they're choosing until it's all over.) She has given us zero indication that she might cheat to get us in. But I like living in a fantasy land where she will.
