November 18, 2006: Shoe car

Yet another xoB/WaPo. Don't say it... don't say it... OK do say it, it's more wacky Asians.

In this case, here is a tourist vehicle in Chongqing, China. The official caption says it's the "Foreigner Street section" of town; Googling says Foreigner Street is a location in Dali China specifically designed to sell things to tourists. How quaint that they have a specific place for tourists, as if centralized planning found that tourists want trinkets and so we will direct them all down this street where trinkets are sold, and call that the street of foreigners.

Or am I wrong?

Completely right, though usually they have the decency to not name the street that

I'd like to see a pair of these going side-by-side down the interstate.

The tourist section is like OZ and that's a ruby slipper.

The tourist in the white shirt, third from the right, looks pensive. Maybe he's thinking "what's that foul smell?"

Does it come with a shoe horn?

Now I'm waiting for the other shoe to dro...um...come to a screeching halt.
