June 15, 2007: Art pigs
Well as long as it's volunteer, and for charity, I guess there's nothing wrong with it.
Not bad work.
Shawnee123 Friday Jun 15 12:54 PM
That's the cutest freaking thing I've seen in a long time! I will forgo the food jokes.
Cloud Friday Jun 15 12:54 PM
Pretty Darn Cute!

Pig on the left, "Hey, don't handle the merchandise!"
HungLikeJesus Friday Jun 15 01:26 PM
Instead of the painting, I'd rather have a photo of the pig that painted it.

Cloud Friday Jun 15 01:39 PM
little piglets are FAR cuter than honkin' hogs.
sixfeet Friday Jun 15 01:40 PM
Awe that is too f-ing cute.

"Their miniature pigs have been creating works of modern art which sell for up to £16 each and have so far raised more than £150 for the Farm Crisis Network charity. "

They're not filthy - they use mud to cool off, protect them from the sun and insects. Pigs can't sweat you know.
Also they don't eat "anything" given the choice, although they will eat what is provided in captivity. Which is why I believe free range pig meat tastes so much better than factory farmed - sausages, bacon, pork all have a stronger, more robust taste when pigs are allowed to forage naturally.
I'm a pig fan.

Baby pigs are adorable...
BigV Friday Jun 15 03:32 PM
Nope--these are art pigs.
Cloud Friday Jun 15 03:39 PM
Just so you know, there's NO WAY I'm going to open the "fart pigs" thread. Just. no. way.
Shawnee123 Friday Jun 15 03:42 PM
You have to, it's hilarious.
xoxoxoBruce Friday Jun 15 04:08 PM
What is £? Different than a normal pound?
artemis05 Friday Jun 15 04:16 PM

I'm reading a book right now that has an interesting chapter on (mostly religious) aversion to pigs. The author thinks a lot of it comes from pigs being so similar to humans.
Hime Friday Jun 15 04:50 PM
The little painters sure are cute, though.
xoxoxoBruce Friday Jun 15 04:51 PM
I think a whole lot of it has to do with Trichinosis.
Cloud Friday Jun 15 04:53 PM
and the fact that they will eat anything, including people and each other, if given a chance
jinx Friday Jun 15 04:55 PM
Personally I think chickens are ugly, dirty, and nasty... until they are rotisseried.
bluecuracao Friday Jun 15 05:02 PM
Mmmm, they should get those li'l pigs to paint with butter.
Flint Friday Jun 15 05:18 PM
I got yer "long pig" right here, baby!
jinx Friday Jun 15 05:21 PM
Oh yeah? Lets see it.
Cloud Friday Jun 15 05:23 PM
(hops over to the NSFW thread to look)
Flint Friday Jun 15 05:24 PM
Don't bite off more than you can chew.
Cloud Friday Jun 15 05:26 PM
you're just a tease then, boy!
jinx Friday Jun 15 05:33 PM
C'mon Flint, I don't believe it exists, but it would be really easy to prove it...
Sundae Friday Jun 15 05:39 PM
I find chickens repulsive alive (although I try to make sure the ones that go into ma belly have lived a reasonable life)
I think pigs are adorable, from squealing piglings to big fat porkers. The most useful animals in the world, surely? You can eat just about every bit of them, wear their skin, ride them, race them, make them dive... Oh the list goes on and on...
I even made an effort to visit the pigs on my Mum's 60th birthday! Cellar link
SPUCK Friday Jun 15 11:00 PM
Why you guys dissin chickens? My ten are pretty hilarious and pump out about 8 great eggs a day. They nailed every slug and snail on the property. They will follow you around. They love it when you dig, they fight to ride the shovel.
HungLikeJesus Friday Jun 15 11:06 PM
"ride the shovel," that's the title I've been looking for. Thanks SPUCK.
xoxoxoBruce Friday Jun 15 11:34 PM
I want to riiiiiiide, ride the shovel
