October 23, 2007: Bizarre looking sweet potatoes

xoB sends this along, knowing IotDs predilection for weird food. This is either one sweet potato, or a set of them, but in either case it's on a farm in Xian, China.

Yeah, I wouldn't eat em either.

DucksNuts  Tuesday Oct 23 08:07 AM

Ive never seen hemroids, but I reckon they look like really big ones

DanaC  Tuesday Oct 23 08:13 AM

A friend of mine teaches English in Xian.

Spectacle  Tuesday Oct 23 11:12 AM

All the cool images of the day are from China, or so the trend shows...

Spexxvet  Tuesday Oct 23 11:22 AM

That shot isn't really my good side.

DanaC  Tuesday Oct 23 11:36 AM

That kinda reminds me of something.....*searches through old IoTD threads*

Ohhh yeah....now I remember..

toranokaze  Tuesday Oct 23 01:42 PM

That is scary like clowns

Aliantha  Tuesday Oct 23 07:45 PM

Those sweet potatoes might have been left in the ground too long.

My dad left some beetroot in the ground for too long and they were weird shapes too. I should have taken pics but didn't think of it at the time.

I grated one of them and made beetroot risotto (think I've mentioned this already somewhere on here)

narcuul  Tuesday Oct 23 08:45 PM

So... This is how they farm their pork in China?..

xoxoxoBruce  Tuesday Oct 23 08:58 PM

How could that happen?

coolcat  Tuesday Oct 23 09:13 PM

now there's an iotd i wouldn't eat. goodness knows how much goddamn lead there is in them. i live in china and the quality of things here is just shit. that's why you get so many weird things coming out of china. sometime ago, i was walking along the road and came upon a river, running green with fungus and pollutants. the smell got so bad i couldn't continue walking and turned back. but next to the river were cows eating the grass and cabbages in ther fields. but tic, as we expats say here: this is china. wanna see more weird stuff (good and bad) about china: check out my website www.anthology.page.tl

Aliantha  Wednesday Oct 24 01:29 AM

It's odd that you've never seen them, cause that's pretty much what they look like. One of many reasons I'm not in the health care field any longer.

Gravdigr  Sunday Oct 28 06:02 PM

DanaC  Tuesday Oct 30 03:26 PM
