March 26, 2008: A Bit of Spring Snow

My friend up in the Great White north of Canada sent me this link and note.

Quote:
Here a site that shows what it's like up here this year

You also need to know that we had 2 more 1-1.5 feet of snow storms afterwards...)

Hit the link for a ton of more pictures.

Trilby  Tuesday Mar 25 04:19 PM

Man, forget that!

I'd be on the next train to Georgia.

Shawnee123  Tuesday Mar 25 04:20 PM

The midnight train?

Yeah, now that's a lot of snow!

Clodfobble  Tuesday Mar 25 04:42 PM

More evidence that God hates Canadians.

Hillrick  Tuesday Mar 25 06:07 PM

So why aren't there, like, a billion Canadians? I mean you can only watch so much cable and shovel just so much snow. Not much else to do....

Have you never heard of frozen embryos?

spudcon  Tuesday Mar 25 07:33 PM

Send Al Gore up there. He'll have those snowdrifts melting in no time.

TheMercenary  Tuesday Mar 25 08:02 PM

Either Bush did this or it is because of Global Warming. One of the two, I am sure.

lumberjim  Tuesday Mar 25 09:01 PM

koo loookookoo koo looo kooo kooo!

Was that Bob or Doug, 'ey? Oh, well, I'm off for some back bacon and beer, 'ey.

You think Fonzie was from Canada, 'ey? 'Eeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyy.

Stonan  Tuesday Mar 25 09:49 PM

Wonderful Eastern Canada. Makes me appreciate living in Vancouver that much more. We may get a lot of rain but the snow stays on the mountains.

Rather carry an umbrella than shovel snow any day...

85% of that snow can be traced directly back to middle management.

xoxoxoBruce  Tuesday Mar 25 11:08 PM

Anybody who'd put their car in those flimsy structures, is a damn fool.

Elspode  Wednesday Mar 26 12:11 AM

It makes absolutely no sense to live anywhere in Canada that isn't a cave...with a hot spring.

TheMercenary  Wednesday Mar 26 12:29 AM

After living in Hawaii for 3 years we learned that it makes absolutely no sense to live anywhere it snows.

The 42  Wednesday Mar 26 01:33 AM

Damn, I miss snow... Here we have two seasons: a brief chilly season between November and January, and from February till October blistering heat. Two inchs of snow and the entire country shuts down, even the areas without snow because everyone wants to go see it!

SPUCK  Wednesday Mar 26 02:57 AM

Seeing that reminds me of:

Tamarack, California
U.S. snowfall record for one month: 390 inches (32.5 feet) January 1911

Tamarack, California
U.S. seasonal snow depth record: 454 inches (37.8 feet) March 1911

Coign  Wednesday Mar 26 11:02 AM

I live in Vail, CO and I love snow. But even up here in the mountains where we get about 12-15 annually, we don't have to dig out of our houses.

Now granted a lot of that is becuase of buildings that are built in "wind tunnels" so you get the huge drifting but still, I would not want to stay somewhere where you have to dig a tunnel to get your car out in the morning. (P.S. I moved here from Duluth, MN but there we get more cold than snow and that just plain sucked.)

rupip  Wednesday Mar 26 11:21 AM

today I came to work a bit late and annoyed because I had to shovel the 30cm (1 foot) snow off my path and off to my car.

now seeing this I am thinking that this was a lovely early moning exercise...

It's hateful of you to say this and then not tell us what country you are in! Now be a good 42 and spill it!

I completely agree.

euphoriatheory  Wednesday Mar 26 06:59 PM

Judging from the amount of snow in that picture, I'd say I live about 20 feet down the road... We've officially broken the all-time snowfall record in my city this year, and I'm sick of it.
That's why you'll see me outside spraying aeresol cans at the sky non-stop for the rest of my life.

That'll only make it worse....

global warming leads to more moisture in the atmosphere leads to more......

Suffice it to say I live a little bit north of Africa

xoxoxoBruce  Thursday Mar 27 06:12 AM

I recently saw pictures of what appeared to be 6 inches, there.

Oh, that's what they tell you it is. It's usually only about 4 inches, IMHO.

spudcon  Thursday Mar 27 11:01 PM

And what's wrong with only four inches?

xoxoxoBruce  Thursday Mar 27 11:10 PM

Teamwork.... I've got the other two inches.

monster  Thursday Mar 27 11:47 PM

More Effing Snow here tonight. I love snow. This is the first time in 7 years i've admitted that I'm pretty much done with it f(or this year). If I have to shovel the shite in the morning, I'm gonna be really pissed.

xoxoxoBruce  Friday Mar 28 12:04 AM

Gather all the candles you can find and leave 'em burning in the driveway.

bullwinkle  Sunday Mar 30 07:18 PM

haha yeah my shed colapsed and its over 20 years old, I thought it could stand anything...guess I was wrong, I had to shovel my way of my drive way so that I could go skiing. Ironic Oui?

Coign  Monday Mar 31 04:19 PM

I thought about linking my photoblog for a IOTD but it is not interesting enough. But I will toss the link here since it is slightly related to this snow subject.

This is par for the course here in Vail. A beaver flooding my parking lot. Hit my link for my full story.

http://www.vaillife.net/?q=node/144

And some pics in case you don't want to visit the page.

(Note: I just got a call from a friend, he said my parking lot got deeper and that they closed off the road out of my units to try and clear out the water. I will have to head over there with the camera.)

And why is it a he? Because have you ever seen a female beaver? They look nothing like this.

Coign  Tuesday Apr 1 12:46 AM

OK so the beaver got worse. I will post pictures of damage that he did tomorrow as the picture of the day cause I think he tried to kill the humans.
