Aliantha Sunday Dec 21 04:30 PMDec 22, 2008: Pudding Tree
Here's one from The Daily Mail that our pommy mates will probably already have seen.
Quote:
It looks good enough to eat - but this is one Christmas pudding you certainly wouldn't want to cover in flaming brandy.
The 20ft-high creation was the idea of Roger and Valerie Holley. It is made of two 25-year-old conifers which Mr Holley, 60, merged together.
He and his wife, 64, spent five years pruning the trees in front of their home in Yeovil, Somerset to perfect the round shape.

Trilby Monday Dec 22 07:19 AMI LOVE it! I love it when people go completely off their rockers and do stuff like this so we all can have a good laugh. Good for them!
back in the mid 90's I was so down and depressed and Christmas just was horrible. I would get up at 5am to be at my job by 6am...daring myself to crash into a tree instead of trudge thru another day of the awful depression. The only bright spot in those days was the Christmas lights I'd see along the way to work. They cheered my heart so much. they really WERE a light in the darkness. because those lights helped me SO MUCH I always keep my Christmas lights on all thru the night (for second and third shift workers) and leave them up thru Jan. I know it sounds stupid, but those people who decorated saved me.
tulzscha Monday Dec 22 10:22 PM'shop?
DanaC Monday Dec 22 10:26 PMNah. That looks perfectly possible and likely. I admit the colouring at the top is unusual, and it's bloody imaginative, but elaborately shaped hedges (whats the name for that again?) aren't exactly unsual.
xoxoxoBruce Monday Dec 22 10:30 PMTopiary.
tulzscha Monday Dec 22 10:39 PMI know, there are a few other photos of it. But someone's gotta throw the "'shop" card, or it's not a real thread :P
SPUCK Tuesday Dec 23 06:03 AMYeah that's shopped... like my shiny metal ass!!
Saw an hour of that just now.. Had to fit in a Bender quote.
Aliantha Tuesday Dec 23 06:09 AMI first saw this on Sky news. They had a reporter there with a cameraman who was filming. That was when I thought it'd make a good Iodt.
It's not shopped.
Sundae Tuesday Dec 23 07:24 AMWhat I want to see is when they douse it in brandy and set light to it.
Now that would be a worthy news item.
