Oct 10, 2009: Malibou, CA

Not Malibu of sand, sun, and surf fame, but Malibou Lake in the coastal Las Virgenes mountains.
You've probably seen it, not in person, but in the movies. Well not movies, a movie.
The movie is Universal Pictures' 1931 classic, Frankenstein.

Adam and Maria by Malibou Lake.

Neatorama points to the Frankenstein Blog, where John Cox describes how he tracked down the exact spot that scene took place.

Almost 80 years later, it hasn't changed that much.

Nice piece of detective work, John.

neat.

I think stuff like this is pretty cool, for some reason. A good while back I saw a clip on YouTube (I think it was YouTube) wherein they went and found quite a few of the locations from "True Grit" and compared then & now pics. A lot of those scenes were literally just a few yards off the side of the road.

I think everyone likes this kind of then and now comparison.

Can you still see the little girls body in the lake?

No, they carried her back to town, before the pitchfork and torch parade, remember?
