Oct 24, 2009: Balloon Tank

I found this through a strange series of links.

Quote:
The photos were taken by German artist Hans Hemert and they prove that design, creativity and art go hand in hand. And last but not least, there’s no telling what you can do with a bunch of seemingly “normal” balloons.

The babelfish translation of the text below the pictures reads:

Quote:
In the context of the exhibition: " this preparation of the readiness of the itself keeping open for the arrival or that is missing gottes" , urban gallery north horn 2007

Nice

" this preparation of the readiness of the itself keeping open for the arrival or that is missing gottes"

I couldn't have said it better myself.

Especially because I don't understand any German.:p

First the tank is rather phallic. Then, it deflates.

The tank, you see, is a metaphor for man.

I think yer purty.

The tank is blinded and threatened by my beauty, so he drinks to try to bolster his confidence. Unfortunately, the amount of alcohol the tank needs to overcome the fear of my beauty has these ill effects that are not conducive to intimate relations.

Or something.

The Germans are in fact engaged on a secret military build-up. Here is their new air force:

Seemingly? That's what normal balloons do. If you fill normal balloons with helium, they'll do it even faster.

It also shows kids shouldn't be allowed near art... and when ya have kids ya can't have nuthin nice.

"metaphor for man" - and a metaphor for future generations reducing war.
