xoxoxoBruce Thursday Mar 11 12:06 AMMar 11, 2010: Dakimakura... Pillow Talk
Wedding night pillow talk, between a Korean man and his... uh, pillow.
Quote:
Lee Jin-gyu fell for his 'dakimakura' - a kind of large, huggable pillow from Japan, often with a picture of a popular anime character printed on the side. In Lee's case, his beloved pillow has an image of Fate Testarossa, from the 'magical girl' anime series Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha.

On the up side, no mother-in-law, no ex-boyfriend baggage, and no kids.

Now the 28-year-old otaku (a Japanese term that roughly translates to somewhere between 'obsessive' and 'nerd') has wed the pillow in a special ceremony, after fitting it out with a wedding dress for the service in front of a local priest. Their nuptials were eagerly chronicled by the local media.
'He is completely obsessed with this pillow and takes it everywhere,' said one friend. 'They go out to the park or the funfair where it will go on all the rides with him. Then when he goes out to eat he takes it with him and it gets its own seat and its own meal,' they added.

Aw c'mon, he has friends? Friends don't let friends marry pillows.

stevecrm Thursday Mar 11 03:07 AMI thought about marrying a pillow once then relised it could not do the washing, hoovering (vacuuming), clean the toilet etc.
So I married a woman instead, after ten years of marriage I relised I should have stuck with the pillow so I got divorced. Now I am just looking for the right pillow for me
Griff Thursday Mar 11 06:31 AMI hope he's not the bed burner who shows up here occasionally.
Adak Thursday Mar 11 07:21 AMThis is so sad - so lonely - yet so funny.
Won't be funny though when his "wife"'s pillowy boy-friend shows up and beats the stuffing out of poor Lee, and runs off with his bride.
The mind boggles at the practical jokes you could pull on poor Lee!
Sheldonrs Thursday Mar 11 07:38 AMIs it cheating if he sleeps face down on a comforter?
newtimer Thursday Mar 11 08:10 AM"...and takes it everywhere,' said his one friend."

Only if the comforter has a face on it.
dmg1969 Friday Mar 12 12:46 PMAs bad as his actually marrying a pillow is...what does it say about the "priest" who preformed the ceremony?
How does that conversation go?
Groom-to-be: Hello, yes I would like to have you to marry myself and my future wife.
Priest: OK, are you of the same faith?
Groom-to-be: Ummmmmmmm.....yes.
Priest: Why the long pause?
Groom-to-be: Well, my future wife is a pillow.
Priest: I see. What the hell do I care. I still get paid.
xoxoxoBruce Friday Mar 12 08:54 PMJapan has priests for all kinds of religions.
ZenGum Saturday Mar 13 07:23 AMJapanese people will sometimes do both shinto and christian/western weddings; some tall blond foreigners get well-paid gigs impersonating priests.
This guy is weird and is doin it wrong (life) but by Japanese standards, he isn't very weird.
Gravdigr Saturday Mar 13 04:08 PMWhy doesn't he just say he likes to beat off to badly drawn, big-eyed pictures of prepubescent girls.
I'm a-thinkin' that pillow is sticky in short order.
spudcon Saturday Mar 13 08:57 PMDoes he get to claim his pillow as a dependent on his taxes?
ZenGum Monday Mar 15 04:02 AMThat would be a special case, but he might slip it onto the balance sheet.
classicman Monday Mar 15 10:53 AMIs is cover-ed by his medical insurance or a blanket policy?
kerosene Friday Mar 19 10:48 PMAll this fluff-must be a sham.
