June 22, 2010: Beach Doodles

Ah, summertime and the living is easy... and sweaty... and sticky...
But people seem to love playing in the sand. From kids with their pails & shovels, to pro sand sculpture builders.

This dude likes to make huge crop circle like designs on deserted beaches.
Bet he's often rushing to finish before the tide destroys the whole thing.

very impressive

TheMercenary  Tuesday Jun 22 09:13 AM

I wonder how he got the color difference to last in the first one.

Trilby  Tuesday Jun 22 09:24 AM

Impressively Zen.

Clodfobble  Tuesday Jun 22 09:24 AM

I think all the sand in the dark part is scuffed up, like he filled it in with his big scrapey stick.

xoxoxoBruce  Tuesday Jun 22 09:25 AM

Probably a matter of texture, rather than a matter of moisture, we usually associate with the color/shade difference.

Edit ~ that's what she said.

TheMercenary  Tuesday Jun 22 09:28 AM

Well that makes sense. I was thinking it had to do with moisture. Still pretty cool. If we go to the beach today I may try it on a small scale.

Julia Grant's tomb. Only no one was buried...it's above ground.
