June 28, 2010: Swimming High

Remember Singapore's skyline the other day?
The Marina Bay Sands hotel towers, with it's Skypark, is one of the newest changes to that skyline.

Quote:
As infinity pools go, this particular one takes the concept right to the edge. 55 floors above the streets of Singapore, the pool at the city's newest resort - the 4billion Marina Bay Sands - is open for business.
The pool stretches 150 metres, three times the length of an Olympic swimming pool

SPUCK  Monday Jun 28 06:13 AM

Try getting that thru all the f**ked up planning people and building (bribe)inspectors around here!

casimendocina  Monday Jun 28 06:50 AM

I've never particularly wanted to live on the edge, but that pic made me want to go and swim on the edge to see what was on the other side.

Griff  Monday Jun 28 07:23 AM

That is fantastic. It gives me that nervous feeling you get before you do something totally stupid that you should survive.

lupin..the..3rd  Monday Jun 28 08:27 AM

That pool needs a diving board.

Lamplighter  Monday Jun 28 10:08 AM

Or a water slide to the bottom

monster  Monday Jun 28 10:15 AM

Scary. In a good way.

Sheldonrs  Monday Jun 28 10:28 AM

Twice as scary for me. I can't swim or fly!

Diaphone Jim  Monday Jun 28 07:00 PM

That whole thing is like a huge surfboard perched on top ot THREE towers.
The water just flows into a little moat where the real danger is getting pureed by the circulation pumps.

spudcon  Monday Jun 28 09:04 PM

And they put fences around here- Sheeesh!

Leah  Thursday Jul 1 01:58 AM

There is no way in this world that I'd ever swim in that pool.

xoxoxoBruce  Thursday Jul 1 02:00 AM

How about water skiing?

Leah  Thursday Jul 1 02:05 AM

Bruce, That pool looks like an accident waiting to happen.

xoxoxoBruce  Thursday Jul 1 02:06 AM

More like a major disaster. Tiiiimmmmbbbbbeeeeer.

spudcon  Thursday Jul 1 08:48 AM

Okay, who peed in da pool??

glatt  Thursday Jul 1 09:09 AM

the pool curves like a banana. You can see what is on the other side of the water if you look way down to the other end. Instead of being curved concave, it should have been curved convex. That way, you wouldn't be able to see at all what is on the other side, and it would be that much more terrifying.

xoxoxoBruce  Thursday Jul 1 09:16 AM

I wonder what the water weighs?
Hmmm 8.33 lbs/gallon, 150 meters long... a lot.

ZenGum  Friday Jul 2 01:17 AM

How about ... diving into that pool. Like from a tower.

casimendocina  Tuesday Jul 6 08:04 AM

You can show how it's done Zen.
