October 15, 2011 Protector of Lake Titicaca



In Peru, on Lake Titicaca, the Uros maintain floating islands made of reeds.

The reeds, when dry, can be shaped into many things, such as boats, huts and the figurehead pictured above. Image by Phil Whitehouse.
