November 18, 2013 - Colorizing the past

These pictures of our past that have been taken from black and white to a realistic color really does make them seem otherworldly. The one below is my favorite but you need to click through the link to see them all.

Of course there's some guess work involved in coloring, by I'm in awe of people with this level of photoshop skill.

The two pics that really strike me most are the two young boys. One in bombed out London, and the other in an American slum. Their two faces are haunting.

Neat. But I have to laugh at the headline:

36 Realistically Colorized Historical Photos Make the Past Seem Incredibly Real

'Cause, before that I thought the past was all fake. Black and white photos? Yeah right, fakes all! But now the past almost seems REAL! Color me incredulous!

Let me just get my incredulous body paint set out....

Ok, all set. Please disrobe, and step up on the platform.

Agreed Dani. That bombsite photo could easily be Dads.
Right time, right location, right sort of haircut and standard of toy...

Lamplighter  Monday Nov 18 04:53 PM

Being my usual creepy-peeper self, I scrolled thru the link enjoying the pics.
Then I clicked on the link at the bottom of the page:

26 Super Realistic Artworks That Aren’t Photographs

This is #1 of 26... it's well worth looking at the others

I'm gonna go find a tree, and wait for dinner.
