Amusing Planet says...

Located in the heart of the Colorado Plateau, in Utah, in the western United States, between scenic red rock cliffs of Arches National Park and the incredible sandstone landscapes of Canyonlands National Park, the town of Moab offers endless opportunity for sightseeing and exploration.

One particularly difficult trail, appropriately named Hell’s Revenge, consists of an 8.4 mile roller coaster ride across dangerously steep sandstone domes and ledges that are not for the faint of heart. It’s a challenging and difficult trail, recommended only for very experienced drivers with advanced equipment. As challenging as it is, Hell’s Revenge is also a very beautiful trail that takes you to high vantage points offering great views of the La Sal Mountains, Negro Bill Canyon, Abyss Canyon and the Colorado River.

This is Lion's Back...

No big deal, you just drive up it and drive back down.

..Just don't go too fast and don't fall off.
Diaphone Jim Monday May 18 01:16 PMThe temporarily closed sign is temporarily closed.
Hard to believe that it is open at all.
And somebody's house at the bottom.
xoxoxoBruce Monday May 18 02:39 PMI think the house is part of the wilderness campground, Jim.
newtimer Tuesday May 19 01:16 PMSee that bicycle in the back of the truck? I'd be more impressed if he used that. Up or down, rider's choice.
Diaphone Jim Tuesday May 19 01:23 PMSeems a funny kind of "wilderness."
blueboy56 Tuesday May 19 01:45 PMLong time ago, saw a definite fail at this location. Brakes gave out on the way down. Interesting to see a new rectangular truck turned into a round lump.

How do you define wilderness? When it takes 9 days to drive specially prepared vehicles 8.5 miles and the alternative is helicopter or shanks mare, I'd call that wilderness. I've seen a lot of official US Government grade A prime wilderness in Alaska, that had roads through it you could drive an ordinary pick-up on, which is more than this has.

I remember that, although they probably had five point harnesses and roll bars, it's a miracle nobody was killed.

the multiple camera angles though...

Shanks mare [sic] is a good start.
Wkipedia finishes it:
"The main feature of them is that human activity is restricted significantly."
