6/17/2003: Cracking glacier from the sky

zippyt sends this along pointing out the stark contrasts. This one goes into the category of earth as art, or just very cool shots.

It comes from here where you can find many more awesome shots like it, from the totally amazing Iceland.

I would like to go there, Bjork notwithstanding, and I hear it's not that expensive for the flights.

Don't you mean: I'd like to go to Iceland, Bjork notwithlaying.

No good Bjork bjashers!

Crack kills!

Notice the size of them compared with the small, low-flyer there in the center.

Cool and cold.

WOW! What an awesome shot. The detail and the clarity is amazing.

Yeah, Rekyavik (except, you know, spelled correctly and all) is a frequent midway stopping point twixt the USA and Europe, so it's not surprising it's reasonably priced.

Ice failure is fractal

Ice cracking looks very similar under a microscope, with an ice cube, and with a glacier.
