6/4/2004: Well-balanced goat

A Pakistani street entertainer balances his goat on a pole as children enjoy the show, in Islamabad.

You'd figure a mountain goat would be able to do something like this, as apparently, they have the most remarkable balance, to be able to manage climbing and standing on rocky hills.

I wonder how he gets the goat up there? Maybe he coaxes it with food...

It is true that mountain goats are extremely sure footed animals - I saw a show about them on the National Geographic channel.

I could be completely wrong, but it looks like that stick it's standing on breaks apart into smaller segments. He might have the shortest segement (top one) on the ground. Gets the goat on it, then adds the others underneath. Lifting the goat by the stick segment might be a challenge.

What do I know?

Or the platform could really be a rope trick or the thing with the basket and the snake and the guy just really doesn't like snakes so he uses a goat instead?

I'm more curious how he gets the goat to balance it's head on that skinny little rope.

He's just making sure he eats a balanced diet.

all i have to say is let's definitely not pick a fight with a society which produces who know how to train goats to do that. seriously.

That goat has some cute anklets and interesting leather headwear.

Both the goat and the man look like they are in some kind of transcendental meditation, silently reciting their mantras.

Man: "big money from show, big money from show..."
Goat: "goat food, goat food..."

I bet the goat does not get fed until after the show - I can imagine that it's balance would be upset if it had to go to the bathroom. Not to mention, the guy would get his hand pissed on.

Hey, I'm not into having sex with goats, it's not my bag. But you gotta admit, that's a pretty good-looking goat. I mean, if you <i>had</i> to have sex with one goat, you could do a lot worse than this one. And so nimble too!

Goats like to climb. They do it for fun. I imagine it would be rather easy to train a goat to do that. Start with a larger platform on top and slowly reduce the size.

My uncle had a farm up in Minnesota when I was a kid and I used to go there for part of the summer. They had a goat that liked to get up on the roof of one of the chicken houses, got a good breeze up there. It had to jump up about 6 feet to get there and did it in one standing leap.

Someone has to mention the kid in the blue.....I think he may be alittle 'light in the loafers' if you know what I mean.

the goat does it with a "kaburi" , its a small helpfull step that is actually made for midgets, he takes it out , stands on the pile and puts it away again! the midget that is...

Goats are sure footed creatures that can balance on a dime...heck, they can climb trees and the sides of mountains!
