3/1/2005: Woman nurses monkey

Well, this is the sort of thing that probably happens all the time in the weird world we live in, but until this point in our culture we haven't really taken the time to share pictures of it. Yes, that woman has decided to nurse that monkey, and she is getting famous for it according to the official cap:

Indian woman Namatia Ghosh, 46, nurses her five-year-old pet monkey Babloo inside her residence in Chandrapur, 65 km (40 miles) south of Agartala, capital of the India's northeastern state of Tripura, February 28, 2005. Namatia has become an attraction in Chandrapur and receives many visitors curious to see her caring for her pet.

Tastes like curry, I'll bet.

melidasaur  Tuesday Mar 1 04:46 PM

poohbearbeth  Tuesday Mar 1 06:34 PM

Weirdo

Now I have seen some weird things in my life--but this is just wrong!

Billy  Tuesday Mar 1 07:13 PM

The human and animals are in the same family.

lumberjim  Tuesday Mar 1 07:13 PM

isnt a 5 yr old monkey pretty much full grown? doesnt that make this just sick twisted monkey porn?

lumberjim  Tuesday Mar 1 07:14 PM

oooh.. band name alert " twisted monkey porn "

Clodfobble  Tuesday Mar 1 07:27 PM

So here's an (even more) creepy thought...

Ever tried to hold a pig? To the best of my knowledge, Tori Amos does not have children, thus she could not actually be breast-feeding that pig. But there's no way a pig would hold still otherwise, certainly not on its back. That pig is either asleep (unlikely), drugged, or dead.

Or maybe a really good prop?

capnhowdy  Tuesday Mar 1 07:44 PM

So many tits....... so few animals.
Carnal pleasure lurks here.
The monkey's going to second base as per his left hand; or is it third?
Where am I when all this happens?
BAND NAMES: Tit Hogs...... maybe... Mammom Monkeys?
I'm quite sure I didn't spell that correctly.

xoxoxoBruce  Tuesday Mar 1 08:26 PM

I wonder if the pull-starts do this too?

wolf  Wednesday Mar 2 01:46 AM

I don't think I'd be going out on a limb by guessing that this woman is probably an Untouchable.

Beggars always need a hook. Letting a monkey suckle off yah was probably the better option. Think about having to choose which limb to have amputated for business sympathy purposes.

Au contraire, C'Fob,
To wit and Viz:

Probably TMI for many, but fascinating nevertheless. Even without a semiclad Tori Amos.

Just.....ewwwww

Montmorency  Friday Mar 4 03:11 PM

Seemed like the Indian version of a Crazy Old Cat Lady to me, but the pink dye right at her hair line symbolises marriage, as far as I know. Wonder what the husband does for a living.

Clodfobble  Friday Mar 4 03:17 PM

I thought the red dot on the forehead meant not married?

Montmorency  Friday Mar 4 03:55 PM

I really wish I knew.

Quote:
Bindi, the "holy dot," traditionally worn on the forehead of married Hindu women—it is believed to protect women and their husbands. /.../ It is usually a red dot made with vermilion.

In the contemporary age the bindi has become a decorative item and is worn by unmarried as well as non-Hindu women. It is no longer restricted in colour or shape. Self-adhesive bindis made from felt in various designs and colours are now available.

from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bindi

Made me curious now. I'll report back if I can dig up something else.

An Indian friend of mine confirms the red dye is an indication that she is married.

Who cares, she has a monkey sucking on her nipple WHILE she carries on a conversation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wolf  Saturday Mar 5 05:18 PM

How fortuitous that this showed up in my mailbox today ...

Quote:
For centuries Hindu women have worn a red dot on their foreheads.
We have naively thought it had something to do with their religion.
The real story has been revealed by the Indian Embassy in Washington.
When a Hindu woman marries, on her wedding night the husband scratches off the red dot to see if he has won a convenience store, a gas station, a donut shop, or a motel in Florida.

footfootfoot  Saturday Mar 5 11:32 PM

Wolf,
Which explains why the Pakistani football team has never won the world cup.
Every time they get a "corner" they open up a corner shop.

Ask Limey.

wolf  Sunday Mar 6 01:30 AM

During the late 70s there was a bit of a soccer craze here in the US ... Pele and Beckenbauer playing for US Teams and all. I believe the Philly soccer team was called the Fury, and I remember the name of the Chicago Sting as well. I subscribed to a soccer magazine and watched as much soccer on television as possible. I was pretty into it.

Then later on my friends' kids were playing soccer and I was pressed into service as their rent-a-mom as their dad was quite ill and could no longer attend their games, so I was keeping the girls' routines as normal as possible, and I refreshed some of the old info.

I get the joke. Both parts. It's a good one.

You mean US Team - The Cosmos. Don't forget to add Chinaglia. I still have my program from Beckenbauer's retirement game. That was the game against the Brasilian national team, where Pele came back for one game - played one half for each team. GREAT game

The Cosmos won 5 NASL championships - the 1977 team was probably the ultimate soccer "dream team"

Pele
Beckenbauer
Chinaglia
Carlos Alberto

et al - that was the year that Pele retired
