6/23/2005: Zorb

When I found and saved this shot, I had no idea that the big plastic ball Zorb was actually something that came out a few years ago and is now a fully conceived and marketed product and has been spotted widely elsewhere. But it's still impressive that you can now run around in your very own hamster ball. (I haven't seen it so maybe you haven't seen it?)

The hamster ball for hamsters came out when I was a youngster... so I guess it took exactly one generation to go from hamster ball for hamsters, to hamster ball for humans.

Hey! I saw these thing on "The Amazing Race" a season or two ago when the race reached New Zealand. They looked really cool. They had to roll down a long grassy hill. Once it got going fast, the person inside kind of stuck to the side as it rolled down the hill.

Looked like a hoot.

Jackie Chan takes one of those down the side of a mountain in Operation Condor.

Waycool!
It would be even cooler to have one to use on water.
Maybe I'll build one this afternoon.......Nah.........

capnhowdy  Thursday Jun 23 02:00 PM

Looking back on the link, I think you CAN use these on water.
I love it.

Only a matter of time before hundreds of nude people are inside these things, rolling through the streets of London under the watchful lens of Spencer Tunick.

axlrosen  Thursday Jun 23 05:20 PM

I'd rather see a dozen or so nude people inside ONE of these things.

Bwaaaahaahahaha! I just got a great visual of one person hoofin' it while the other eleven are just rolling around inside unable to stand.

Oh man, now that's comedy.

IIRC Peter Gabriel had one in one of his recent concerts.

Yes, in concert. Not sure about video. It was a special one they built for him that was easier to see through. The colored bungees between the inside and outside were made white and a couple other changes.
