12/9/2005: Rhino baby

There's just something about the rhino babies that makes 'em interesting. In this one the mom is named Betty, and the newborn and all are at Berlin's Friedrichsfeld Zoo. Look at the pink belly! Happy Friday.

almost looks like the little guy is smiling

Emrikol  Friday Dec 9 01:29 PM

YAY!

Congrats!

After finally reading Douglas Adams' "Last Chance to See," I have a little more respect for all things not me. We all should feel so good about little gray four footed animals with horns!

Trilby  Friday Dec 9 02:36 PM

Little guy is smiling coz, as my three year-old nephew, Max, says: "My mudder loves me."

Smiling... or grimacing? "No Mom, don't lick my bum again!"

capnhowdy  Friday Dec 9 03:32 PM

A face only a mother could love.
I bet Betty's glad they aren't born with the horn on the nose.
Someone needs to clean up their living quarters.

He even has mom's neck wrinkles......and a mischievious grin.

dar512  Monday Dec 12 10:37 AM

Hmmm. Still no hippo for Gayla Peevey.

Happy Monkey  Monday Dec 12 02:55 PM

Actually, according to your link, she actually did get a hippo. But apparently she didn't really want one, so she regifted it to some zoo...

seakdivers  Tuesday Dec 13 03:58 AM

Awwww!! So cute!!!

So what is it with this place and our affinity with ugly baby animals?

Her parents wouldn't let her keep it.

capnhowdy  Tuesday Dec 13 02:45 PM

"Oh sure, Gayla. But remember you HAVE to keep it OUTSIDE. And it's food and vet bill is coming out of YOUR allowance! Gosh knows what the neighbors are gonna say. One complaint, Gayla. I mean one complaint and that rhino is so outa here."

xoxoxoBruce  Tuesday Dec 13 09:09 PM

Just have to convince the neighbors that rich people use rhino poop for those beautiful lawns and gardens.

BigV  Tuesday Dec 13 11:12 PM

You don't have to be rich.
