If you can type, you can operate a bread machine. They're pretty cheap these days and the bread is soooo good.

Also, you can buy packets of ready made bread mix. I used to buy a ready made ciabatta flour mix, all I had to add was a little water.

yeah, I have no idea what left hand right hand is supposed to mean.

I think I'll leave you girls to sort this one out.

I think he means his left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing ;)

Or possibly the disability that has him in a wheelchair also affects the use of his hands.

Aliantha 10-04-2007 08:37 PM

right. well, I can't read anyone's mind including his. I guess he'll have to get over himself and try communicating if he wants to be understood.

Right. I do have CP, but thank Jehovah it's not too severe or progressive.

Incidentally, the first time I tried to cook was the last.

machines mean you don't have to do it

Ali does have a point, though -you post like you expect everybody to know that. Why should they? very few people read everything. Like maybe 3. People would be more open to help and not feel so unappreciated if you actually explained once in a while. IRL, the wheelchair tells part of your story. here it does not. That has many positive sides, but also a few negatives. help us out with a little explanation now and again, huh?

You may well be an army of one. Which is good sometimes, but.....

Aliantha 10-05-2007 12:55 AM

you were not clear. you expected me to know what you were on about.

I still have no idea wht you mean anyway because I don't know if you mean Cerebral Palsy or something else when you say CP. I could assume that's what you mean, but I don't generally like making them because usually assumptions are wrong.

I realize life is more challenging for you regardless of your disability, but that doesn't give you the right to be dick and get away with it.

monster 10-05-2007 08:42 AM

Don't mince your words, now, weill you, Ali?

Aliantha 10-05-2007 07:40 PM

Well, when you're on the internet, it's best to be pretty clear about where you stand on these sorts of issues. It's very easy for people to be confused if you expect them to read your mind. ;)

I've had to think about an appropriate response to this one. I don't know if this'll do it, but here goes it:

I don't want anyone to feel unappreciated by me. It's just not always easy for me to explain things, so you'll have to use your imaginations and meet me halfway. Of cousre, there are some things that seem pretty self explanatory.

Now, as for typing, I usually use only my left-hand index finger, and since my palm is resting on the edge of my desk I can guide my finger to the key I need to press, giving me better control. As for, my mouse, pretty much the same thing. I just wish they'd make a one-button, USB optical mouse for the PC. Why should Mac user have all the fun.

Aliantha 10-06-2007 06:14 PM

I don't see how you can reasonably expect people to 'use their imaginations and meet you half way' when they don't have anything to base their imaginings on except you being a dick. You can't go getting all shitty because someone can't 'imagine' what the challenges are that you face if they have nothing to start with in the first place.
