Weird stuff I get from the Contact Us link

On every page of the Cellar, at the bottom, there's a "Contact Us" link that leads to a page where you can fill in a form and contact, well, "us".

It gets spammed occasionally, but recently it's gotten much more entertaining with wacky messages.

The humor is aggravated by the fact that the system records which page the sender came from. If they are a user, their user name is also sent.

I figured this one out. Staceyv's chocolate cheesecake recipe is here. It's 2 1/2 years old. Thing is, if Stace wanted to get in touch, there is no contact information for Dara. Dara is not a Cellar user.

Mostly because, among the informed (snobs, including me), bbq is not sauce.

marichiko 09-29-2006 05:20 PM

What I'd love to know is how all these folks with odd requests or strange messages come across The Cellar. I'm sure if you Google BBQ sauce, the Cellar does not come up on the first set of hits. I just checked, and, sure enough, it doesn't. Not the second page, either.

Its just a scam. He'll want you to send money, then you won't get your kidney. You'll just get a small picnic cooler with some pickled pigs feet on dry ice, with "Kidney" written on them in magic marker.

That's the whole point. Since tasty kidney-feet are banned in the USA, he simply supplies a demand. Freedom is on the march.

I actually quite enjoyed reading this thread just now. Seems like a long time ago...especially since perth and I were still married then. Now if only I could get him to come back to the cellar.

Elspode 12-29-2006 09:45 AM

We didn't contribute to the breakup in some subtle way, I hope, Case? I mean, he isn't staying away due to bad memories associated with the time that you were both here?

kerosene 12-29-2006 12:57 PM

No, not at all. The cellar was never a reason for our split. I have asked him about why he is never on the cellar anymore, but he just doesn't feel like it anymore. It's too bad, too, because he introduced me to this place in 2000 or so.

Elspode 12-29-2006 01:10 PM

Well, I'm sorry he doesn't come around anymore.

kerosene 12-29-2006 01:48 PM

Perth's annoucement.

Don't feel bad. Things are actually quite good between perth and I. He is still one of my best friends and my husband and I spend time with he and his girlfriend quite a bit.

edit: UT, I truly didn't mean to hyjack your thread. Carry on! :)

That reminds me of a student I had to deal with once upon a time at my place of employment. We had a couple of run-ins because she was from a foreign country and felt we were overcharging her for phone calls home. (There's no denying that the billing system--which I had inherited--that we had at the time was a piece of shit, and that our overseas rates were not competitive. But we were fairly upfront about costs and people were free to use it or get a prepaid calling card, which was usually much cheaper.)

But that doesn't explain her insistence that we were bugging her phone line--she knew this because of the way the calls sounded--so we could find out what her travel plans were and follow her home. She had a telephone expert who she was going to bring in to take apart our telephone system and prove that she was being bugged.

Cloud 02-04-2007 11:41 PM
