Drink Experiment

If I have a drink before posting here I usually try to hide it.
In other words I check my spelling more carefully, step away from the keyboard if I feel irritated, generally try to act as sober as possible.

Tonight I am sharing it.
I'll post updates in here with amount consumed so I can gauge tomorrow how I fared.

Am drinking Stella Artois. I may need someone to translate the units/ measurements. Or translate full stop - although I don't think it will get to that.

Right now - have had 3 English pints (3 x 568ml) of 5.2% lager
9 units as we calculate it in the UK

This isn't about how much I can drink btw - just a record so I can check back on how I posted.

My irritation level is up - I was cursing the printer just now, but I did that earlier when the shop was open and I was stone cold sober.
I have been hot all day, but have The Creeping Flush on my throat.
My fingers are a little random and spellcheck isn't set up on this PC.

Summer is here in D.C.. It's really too hot to spend any time outside today. I'll usually go for a little stroll at lunch, but not today.

I don't notice any change in your posts so far. Nothing obvious anyway.

Sundae 06-19-2007 03:31 PM

Have started 5th pint
Keep forgetting I am technically here to feed the printer (printing the back of vouchers for a mailout)

Otherwise, feel fine.
If a little verbose.

Sundae 06-19-2007 03:53 PM

Time does seesm to have slowed down
I wondered about that fact that no-one was here and no-one was posting. Then looked at trhe time to see it was 10 minutes.

The printer is already running out of black ink. I'm not sure I can handle being here in slo-mo if I don't have a real purpose.

Cloud 06-19-2007 03:57 PM

time does act oddly around here sometimes, doesn't it?

especially when you're having fun!

Sundae 06-19-2007 04:07 PM

Adding it here rather than clogging up other threads - THUNDER IS HERE!
Yay! Am welcoming the storm :)

And I had to correct even this short post 3 times...
I'm definitely affected.

Sundae 06-19-2007 04:43 PM

Rain & thunder not constant
Printer has run out of black ink
Not enough people here tonight to keep the board moving

I picked the wrong night!

Reading snopes but it's not engaging me
May have to go home :(

This isn't waa-waa-waaah, just part of the experiment. The sulky part :)
On 7th pint. Will stick sperry-ment til I finish at least. Will be the benchmark on my few posts outside of this thread.

DanaC 06-19-2007 04:51 PM

We just got the thunder here too. Am gonna log off for a bit:P I've seen one computer blown by lightning a few years ago, not taking a chance on the council's laptop heh.

Cloud 06-19-2007 04:56 PM

except it's the middle of the afternoon where I am!

Sundae 06-19-2007 05:02 PM

We're coming up to 22.00 here
Was thinking of making a beer run (and food run - have't eaten since midday!) but realised this was about documenting my experience, not making myself incapable of work tomorrow!

Mebbe I'll try it another time on US friendly time.

For the record Dana, we seem to be in pockets of storm. Going from thunder to dry within 15 mins. But I expect it will hit seriously after midnight as prev posted.

Has to amend spelling muchly!

Sundae 06-19-2007 05:19 PM

I might go & buy some cigarettes on the way home
I do feel drunk

On my last can (the 8th)
Don't think I've exposed my drunken self - would have to log on in the middle of the night to connect to ppl at the same ponit.

Argh. Burping & trying to work out if kebab is good idea...

Cloud 06-19-2007 05:19 PM

you're not driving, I hope!

lumberjim 06-19-2007 05:25 PM

i may attempt to replicate this expeiment this evening. i'm intrigued. hmmm....

Cloud 06-19-2007 05:26 PM

I once tried to drink my way around EPCOT center at DisneyWorld. You know--all those international pavilions serving their local brew.

Only made it about half way before I had to stop!

bluecuracao 06-19-2007 05:30 PM

Wow, eight pints in three hours?? I bet you DO feel drunk, SG!

Sundae 06-19-2007 05:35 PM

I walk home - if I ever work out how to get the camera to work on the laptop here, you'll see. About 200 steps!

I posted in ml because I know UK & US pints are different. You can translate better than I can. But yes, am fuzzy headed-ish. Have yet to lie down, that's the killer.

What's the time?
Am getting Drunk Immunity - if I carry on drinking I'll be okay!
Need to decide in the next 20 mins if am gonna be a good girl or a lush

Sundae 06-19-2007 05:46 PM

Serious dilemma.
Carry on (not sensible) or go home (good girl)

know I could work tomorrow on another 2 pints
know shop closes 23.00 (22.39 now)
common sense has gone across the rooftops run away (local radio playing Duran DuraN)

HMMMMMMM

bluecuracao 06-19-2007 05:57 PM

I still remember how yucky I felt on Saturday, so I don't know if I can recommend those 2 extra pints...

Sundae 06-19-2007 05:57 PM

Feel a bit grim actually.
Have made definite decision not to have anything else

fingerers are moving through soup, posting

except - yay! - singalong song on radio
oh you are so lucky I can't connect my digital camera!

Right. Serious. Gotta go.
Swill down this.

Corrected about 4 times

bluecuracao 06-19-2007 06:01 PM

Eat a grilled cheese before you go to bed!

Sundae 06-19-2007 06:03 PM

HOHO! Not capable of food
in fact better go now - argh may not even get takeawt

running!"!!!

Cloud 06-19-2007 06:22 PM

No! drink water before you go to bed. Your head will thank you tomorrow.

Sundae 06-19-2007 06:37 PM

Walked past kebab shop.. just TOO tempted
came bak here to eat (closer then home by abour 50 yards!)

Drinking 7up and have Killer ONion Breath!!!

SHIT
hiccups! throat hurting ones

imagine me going HJrrrrrrreH! every 3 secs and you have my life

limey 06-19-2007 07:10 PM

So how was your head this morning, SG?

Cloud 06-19-2007 07:13 PM

I don't think she's gone to bed yet! Is it morning there?

skysidhe 06-19-2007 08:53 PM

oddly I make less writing mistakes after a beer. I should drink more.

How'd you do SundaeGirl?

lumberjim 06-19-2007 10:50 PM

i may not be as scientific as Sundae....

i sat down here at 10:30. I'm half way through Capn'n diet coke no. 1. (i'm off on wednesdays)

stone cold sober.

lumberjim 06-19-2007 11:22 PM

jesus christ!!

we've managed to replicate the fuckin thunder and lighting, too!

rainin its fuckin ass off.......!

lumberjim 06-19-2007 11:26 PM

holy hell. i;ve never had lightning hit so close. zip, pop! boom! less than a second between the flash and the bang....

i'm too close to the window.
ps. just started cappy #2. i make them strong. starting to feel groovy.

elSicomoro 06-19-2007 11:29 PM

I had 3 1/2 beers during dinner tonight. I think I have a few Rocks left in the fridge along with some amaretto.

lumberjim 06-19-2007 11:54 PM

drop a shot of ammaretto into a glass of beer....you like dr pepper right? try that shit, homie./

elSicomoro 06-19-2007 11:59 PM

Actually, April had one of those at dinner. It was alright...we didn't ask which beer they used. It was probably something crappy like Stag or PBR or Budweiser.

lumberjim 06-20-2007 12:02 AM

we're totally gonna lose power.....

lashing winds and rain.....wtf?

i mean....dubba yew tee eff!

lumberjim 06-20-2007 12:03 AM

Sundae 06-20-2007 03:30 AM

If asked, I'd have said this morning that I wasn't very drunk last night.

And yet I forgot having hiccups.
I forgot I left, then came back here to eat a kebab.
And I completely forgot that I had been intending to carry on drinking after 8 pints.

Quite, quite glad I didn't!
I still have onion breath though :(

Hagar 06-20-2007 05:46 AM

:) Science thanks you!

DucksNuts 06-20-2007 06:00 AM

It was thoroughly amusing to read SG :)

bluecuracao 06-20-2007 08:02 PM

lol. SG, did you wake up wondering WHY you had onion breath?

monster 06-20-2007 09:17 PM

You don't get regular thunderstoms there, lj? We get that warning 3-4 times/week on average in spring and early summer. The storms don't always follow, but they are pretty spectacular and pretty regular. Only one tornado watch so far this season, though....

lumberjim 06-20-2007 09:34 PM

this was an exceptionally powerful and low flying storm. the lightning was going POP! right before it crashed...which said to me that it was hitting something v. nearby....like the lightning rods on the deli next door.

monster 06-20-2007 11:01 PM

Cool. I love those storms. Neighbors just put it down to crazy Britness.

Sundae 06-22-2007 09:56 AM

Okay - I'm tempted to try this again one last time.

As we're getting security cameras installed on Monday, my last chance is Saturday night.
As I don't work Sunday I'll be able to log on in America-friendly hours.

Anyone else going to be here having a drink then?

Shawnee123 06-22-2007 10:13 AM

This is a great thread. I'm trying to figure where I can hook-up outside of work so I can experiment, too. Public Library? No. Well, that's it on options.

Not sure the Cellar is ready for Drunk Shawnee anyway!

Sundae 06-23-2007 07:28 PM

1st (UK) pint sunk
have really hot eyeballs, but that's because I got 2.5 hours sleep in anticipation of staying up all night

starting second pint now

Sundae 06-23-2007 08:04 PM

2nd pint sunk
tired more than drunk

Jinx says I should stop correcting my spelling errors, so I won't in here (if you come in, you get what you deserve)

I'll still try to maintain decorum in the Cellar though - it's not polite to roll around someone else's house drunk after all

Sundae 06-23-2007 08:41 PM

3rd done
feeling it so much more tonight (I didn't even think to start the thread until this point last time)

I'm expecting the armour of drink to start building from here
I predict I will claim I am not feeling it from now on (and I will mean it, it's just my senses will be dulled as to the effect)

Gabbly is fun when drinking!
You don't have to be coherent for more than just a sentence!

Sundae 06-23-2007 09:26 PM

4th hits the deck

Stomach full of beer so hunger has dissipated
Gabbly still making it easy to feel relatively sober - but am enjoying it immensely, with drink-warmth to all!

I love this place, I love these people
I think this often but will only blurt it out like this when drunk

Blimey, just realised - only halfway through my stash!
Pop-fizzzz, here goes #5
I'm pretending I'm at Glastonbury
without the music or the mud

Sundae 06-23-2007 10:10 PM

Seem to have started #6 without posting it here
Too busy in Gabbly

(and beginning to lose a coherent timeline)

Right
Forcing myself to document because that was the plan
Tonight I am Sauce Girl
Have introduced Merkins to the Actress Said to the Bishop tagline
Have explained Dyscalculia (spelling it wrong)
Have reined in compliments even I considered too slathering

Currently waiting for LJ to appear

bluecuracao 06-23-2007 10:16 PM

I wasn't planning on drinking tonight, but I just saw there's a few cold ones in the fridge...glug (bottle #1 started)

Sundae 06-23-2007 10:18 PM

Have just also exlained Merkins )slang term for aMERiCANs also meaning pubic wig) and had a translation of what I'm drinking (approx 20oz per can)

And didn't correct spelling!

You crack me up. :)

Sundae 06-23-2007 10:34 PM

It was Zippy's line - I can't take credit...

skysidhe 06-23-2007 10:42 PM

oh :)

well I cannot be seen via Opera by you all so I won't sit there.
ho..hum

Sundae 06-23-2007 10:47 PM

Sorry you can't join us Sky :(

Just cracked open can #7
Hard to really gauge things, as am on one0sentence gabbly

May ask a question re Under Milk Wood though - putting it here in case I don't get a reaction (moves quite fast)

Aware I'm not necessarily making sense to the outside world

NOT keeping in typos! So those that slip through are evidence of mental state!

Sundae 06-23-2007 11:16 PM

Oops
Half past #7 and again forgot to register
well, it's probably the best indicator of my mental state!

False dawn & birdsong here
Crikey
Makes me feel better about just having the one unopened can (and 1/3 open one)

Sadly didn't get the response I wanted re Under Milk Wood, but that's always the way when you ask a question with an answer in mind. I thought an extract of a poem/ play used in a car advert meant on of my favourite poets was widely recognised. Nah. Still glad it was used though.

Sundae 06-23-2007 11:38 PM

Still on 7, but feel grim

Light filtering through from window at front of shop
Makes it harder to believe other people are 5 hours behind - think everyone is in similar dishevelled state.

Aliantha 06-23-2007 11:50 PM

Not me. I'm just getting started.
