liquor flask
Anyone in here uses a liquor flask? Is there anything I should look for or keep in mind when shopping for one? I was reading the reviews in Amazon, and it seems like some leak, and possibly rust too. Anyways, those were cheaper and not as pretty. I found a site with plenty pretty ones, but I wasn't sure if they're any better other than being prettier. :p:

Plastic lined is probably the best bet against leaking, rusting, or just getting icky.

Plastic lined??? I haven't run across one yet! Well, there's this one that's made from plexi glass, but the top or tip is made from stainless steel, or so I think. Here's a pix below. I like it just cuz of the plexi-glass material. However, I am partial towards the round or the slim design because they're so pretty. :D
|
I've seen some that are a plastic flask covered with metal, usually pewter, or silver plated something, engraved with designs.
Leather too, is sometimes used for a cover, which is good if you're hiding it in your underpants during cold weather. |
Perhaps I may be of assistance.
I have a number of flasks (stainless, leather covered, etc), and the one I find most useful, *by far*, is this one by Nalgene. Good volume, holds almost a half of a fifth (no, that's not a tenth), and I really like the sleeve the actual flask fits into. It has a cap cover that is designed to be a "shot "glass""--silly. Unbreakable, at least I've never been able to break any nalgene bottle I have used and abused. I'm still on my first one, and I've had it for years. |
 you pour it from some other bottle into this bottle before pouring it into your mouth?
|
what part of houston do you live in? the spec's on westheimer and kirkwood as well as the one between fondren and voss have a pretty good selection.
|
I've heard, for non-hermits that actually go forth in the world, the other bottle is not an option, as the police and public frown on it.

A Practical Guide To Drinking At Work advises against the use of flasks, though.....

If you drink at work you have issues...

Just tell your boss it's an external artificial heart, you know, just temporary until they find a donor. ;)

BigV: The sleeve and the "shot glass" cap design would've made the Nalgene perfect for me except it's too big. That's a real shame because I like everything about it, including the color. I only want something that holds about 6 oz. or so. You guys are gonna to find me silly but I want to get a flask to store water. That's right, plain H20. :p: It's to put in my purse or such for times when I desperately need water to down some pain killers or when I'm extremely dehydrated. Why not buy a bottle of water, you ask? I have absolutely no bladder, metorphorically speaking, of course. Needing to use the restroom on the road or when I'm not home is extremely inconvenient. That's why I want something small to tuck in my purse when I'm on the road or in my tote when I'm at meetings or such. A bottle of water is heavy and takes up space.
plthijinx: There is a Spec's near my place. I think I'll check that place first and if it doesn't carry anything nice, maybe I'll check out the locations you mentioned. They're not far for me to go either. |
You can get mini bottles of water. Airline-size.

I just made time to read the link Monster put up. Anyways, I disagree that a person can only pull off drinking with vodka. Anyone ever notice the color of cognac? Pour that into a glass, looks just like tea or apple juice. That's right, apple juice. So pour cognac into an iced tea or apple juice bottle. Much better than vodka. ;)

yes, they are. But I could sit on them for you. For a fee.

Couldn't you just re-use the bottle you're holding in the picture?

Also, there's an old story about a line that sounds like it should be a punch line, but doesn't have a build-up joke:
Liquor? I didn't even kiss her! I think there's another line like that, but I can't think of it right now. |

Couldn't find it on top of her desk, so I started going through the drawers, and found a small bottle of gin and a small bottle of tonic (both half full). I never said anything, but I took the stuff from her desk. About a month later, she "retired." Heh. |
RECTUM!? damn near killed him!

Yes, I do have a job. I don't have a significant other. I am not a stay-at-home-auntie. We're just too nice so we ended up keeping my nephew alot. There are 3 of us, my mom, my sister, and I in the household so if someone is busy, the other person(s) will take care of him. I would say I live with my mom and not look after her although she's 67. Muscle-wise, she's stronger than I. If I can't lift something or open a jar, I ask her. :D I would say I am an Asian American. I am from a very traditional and old-fashioned family with deep religious morals and values. However, I did grow up in the States, so I myself have assimilated values of the western culture. Celebrate or regret? It's just who I am. :) |
What do you do? Will you have to kill me if you tell me? Are you an FBI agent? A telephone sanitation operative? A garbage truck driver?
|
Did you ever get a liquor flask?
|
Tissue? I hardly even know you.
