Quick question
Does the system seen a little slow today?
|
Seems normal to me.
|
I haven't had any problems.
|
Cool. The system itself is fine, but the T1 is "pinned" due to another client offering xmas tunes.

Not these, they are 0wn3d

Hadn't noticed any speed problems.
Not even at the nuthouse, which has the world's slowest T1. |

What does a nuthouse need with a T1? |
I really don't know WHY we have a T1. We used to have the world's slowest DSL. The speed is apparently good coming into the building, but grinds to a freaking halt on our internal network, which involves paperclips, chewing gum, and baling wire.
I'm kidding about the chewing gum and baling wire, hopefully. The network hub for many years did actually hang off a paperclip in the computer guy's un-airconditioned office. Yeah. No A/C for the server either. When the network went down, the usual cure at night was to get the key to computer guy's office and rehang the paperclip. I wish I were lying. I suspect that speakerwire was used to hook things together, rather than router cable. It would be par for the course. This is what you get, incidentally, when the computer guy is a legacy hire (his late father was one of the first administrators of the hospital), has a degree in journalism (possibly photojournalism), and doesnt own a home computer. |

We're a private hospital. We just rent a building from the state hospital. I can't blame any of this on the state.

I'd say it's Jimmy Carter's fault, actually. The seeds of our destruction were sewn when he was in office.

Hospital was founded in 1974. Q.E.D.

I can see that.

wolf, you said that bit about bubblegum and paperclips like it was a bad thing. I guess I'd better not mention the hub I have that's sitting on top of a ceiling tile in the entryway outside the men's room.
|
Gee Steve , that reminds me that i need to re-seal the hole for the antenna wire for the wireless hub i installed recently . The maint men at the facility desided they didn't like what i used to seal up the hole to the roof , so they just pulled it all out . The last time i saw the hub ( about a month ago ) it had water stains on it from water running down the cable ( oh and it DOES sit on celing tiles , again the maint dudes were suposed to build a shelf for me ABOVE the celing tiles ) .

Comcast has been slow as hell for two weeks. :(
|
My Comcast connection hasn't been too bad, though when I send e-mail, it's slower than molasses in January.
|
My Direcway connection is way better than my dial up was but we did lose our signal for a couple minutes yesterday during our extreme weather event. All of which says I can't judge cellar speed cuz its much faster than it was.
|
Griff , How much do you pay a month for direct way ??
|
I hate to say it outloud so I'll type it. $60 a month grumble grumble. Pete gets a small kickback from her company but its still quite a bite. We live in an unserved area so its satellite or dial-up. I should add that its more if you want tv as well which I won't until the next World Cup.
