Cool. The system itself is fine, but the T1 is "pinned" due to another client offering xmas tunes.

Hadn't noticed any speed problems.

Not even at the nuthouse, which has the world's slowest T1.

The next question being:

What does a nuthouse need with a T1?

I really don't know WHY we have a T1. We used to have the world's slowest DSL. The speed is apparently good coming into the building, but grinds to a freaking halt on our internal network, which involves paperclips, chewing gum, and baling wire.

I'm kidding about the chewing gum and baling wire, hopefully.

The network hub for many years did actually hang off a paperclip in the computer guy's un-airconditioned office.

Yeah. No A/C for the server either.

When the network went down, the usual cure at night was to get the key to computer guy's office and rehang the paperclip.

I wish I were lying.

I suspect that speakerwire was used to hook things together, rather than router cable. It would be par for the course.

This is what you get, incidentally, when the computer guy is a legacy hire (his late father was one of the first administrators of the hospital), has a degree in journalism (possibly photojournalism), and doesnt own a home computer.

That sounds eerily like the situation when I worked as a nut wrangler myself. It's the other edge of the state employment sword I guess.

We're a private hospital. We just rent a building from the state hospital. I can't blame any of this on the state.

I'd say it's Jimmy Carter's fault, actually. The seeds of our destruction were sewn when he was in office.
