humble suggestion

As I read the various forums and threads therein, I cannot help but notice that a common theme keeps popping up...FOOD!

I therefore suggest we create a new forum dealing with food. Recipes, favorite foods, found goodies, regional cuisine etc. I'd even moderate if we need someone who can cook as well as appreciate food.

Seconded!

I'm only for it if Drink is included in the title.

The discussion period begins.

Anyone cooking anything especial for Easter?

juju 04-16-2003 03:52 PM

It doesn't really interest me. I'm such a picky eater that I don't really like anything. But if you guys want it, then have it!

Food not cooked in quantities to feed thousands. Mmmmm

BrianR 04-16-2003 09:33 PM

Easter dinner here

Baked Glazed Ham
Smashed seasoned potatoes
Green Beans
Candied Carrots
Fresh Biscuits with whipped butter
Wine TBD

I make MY meals from scratch, except for meats
eg, no instant taters

And yes, since drink is a food, it can be discussed also, like beer and wine, recipes for mixed drinks etc.

Sounds like a good idea. Though I have no Easter plans whatsoever. I am, however, looking for good recipes with eggs as one of the main ingredients...preferably something out of the ordinary. It's a long story. Well, ok, it's not long, but I won't bother boring people with it. ;)

"Oh I wish I was an Oscar Meyer Pagan
That is what I'd truly like to be...
'Cause if I was an Oscar Meyer Pagan
Cellar Dwellars would be eating me!"

I decided to cook a pork loin rib roast with an apple-pecan cornbread stuffing. I think the females will accompany it with some cheesy double-bakers and asparagus, possibly with a loaf of homemade bread. And no sour grapes for me -- I'll stick with a beer.

Fine dining for Easter.

My Easter Repast:
3 McChickens (Mmmm, highly prcessed chicken-like product)
1 Large Fry (from Wendy's, MickyD's fries suck since they changed oil)
1 Coke to drink (from a two liter, here at the house)
Ah yes, I plan to spluge for the holiday.

We're going basic Louisiana:
Red beans and rice (with ham hock and andouille)
Something green
Abita beer
Crusty bread
Something fruity sweet.
Aided by Prof. Longhair, Irma Thomas, Meters, Smiley Lewis.

Whit 04-17-2003 11:16 AM

Oh, hell yeah.

I've lived all over Louisiana. God, red beans and rice sounds good. It's been way to long since I've had proper red beans and rice. Crusty bread, the stuff you could club somebody with. That stuff rocks. Suddenly the McChickens sound inadequate.
