Get a solid state disk first
The best thing you can do is get an SSD.
I bought one for $30 and it made an old laptop run like new!
Win10 will suck without one.

One thing you absolutely have to do is flash every bit of firmware you have to the latest revisions. Not just because...

Hi.
I have been barely checking in for the past decade. I started calling here when this was a BBS on my Commodore 64. No longer have the modem or that 64, but still have one that needs to be...

It comes down to operational management
TW/Bruce,
If you don't budget for actually designing and maintaining a system properly, failures happen.
The problem isn't management. It's management being ignorant of these issues and...

Clodfobble,
I used to have a lot more time for it. Really. This used to be one of my big time-wasters. I used to telnet into the Waffle BBS-based predecessor of this place in the mid-90's. I...

Commodore
TW,
The whole reason for Commodore's success was that they could make computers more cheaply than anyone else. They did in 4 chips what other companies did in 6. Because they owned MOS...

TW,
You should go to business school these days. They have an entire curriculum based upon innovation and startups. I took one of those classes. It was taught by a former Ensoniq executive. We...

The answer is yes. That's entirely possible and most likely has already happened.

BadUSB
The policy control of losing rank/clearance is appropriate given the severity of the bug.
This is because much more nefarious items than viruses can be brought into a SCIF due to this.
This bug...

I still use AVG here
AVG is still sneaky.
It still works, however. I have it at home with a Win7 PC and put it on my niece's Win8.1 laptop and my wife's as well.
No issues here with it.

Buyer Beware.
I would stick with resellers like overstock.com and Newegg to buy refurb equipment since it has some semblance of a warranty and has been serviced by a legitimate company.
I...
