Teenagers

As of today, I have a teenager. Apparently we are going for full immersion in the role -as we were leaving for the bus this morning -on the later side of where we'd like to be because of the road conditions- she ran back upstairs ("I know, I'm just getting something, oKAAAy?"). It was later revealed to be a pair of black pants because on leaving the house she realized they would go better with her top than the navy ones she was wearing. *sigh*

haha...oh yeah, welcome to the new world! lol

I certainly noticed a difference when we crossed over from 12 to going on 22. Everything became so intense and life shattering. Thank goodness I have boys though. I think girls are probably much more difficult.

Oh my, monster. Do you remember being a teenage girl? Eeek, I do. I feel for my brother and sis-in-law when they have three teenage girls (right now oldest is 10, youngest is 5.)

My mom told me in later years that she always loved me but I wasn't particularly easy to like sometimes. That's different than now...how?

Oh, and my older brother and wife survived 5 teenagers at once (a combined family thing, two girls three boys.)

They're all now fully functioning adult units. It only takes years!

As a young teenager I was parenting my mother. As an older teenager, I had sued my father for maintenance and was living with my grandmother. I grew up fast. I've been enjoying my childhood these last ten years since I left them both in the UK, perhaps it's time for me to have my teens now?

Hebe's lovely, really. Mostly. Even her nasties are OK. I love her and like her and I'm very proud of her. And I laughed my ass off on the way to swim practice tonight when I pointed out the condition of the car in front and she said "that car is seriously fucked up". She doesn't "cuss" at home often, so it's very effective. I asked her to remember not to say stuff like that when Grandma's here next week, because she doesn't like it, She said "yes, that's why i'm getting it out of the way tonight".

That is a brilliant child, born of a mother who had a very different experience of childhood. She's so going to rock and overcome even the worst of teenage angst. I love your honest conversation, recognizing her individuality, letting her express herself.

And she gets to have humor in her life. That is priceless stuff.
