Playing the Lesbian Card!

Did you hear?! In the last debate, Kerry outted the Cheney's Lesbian daughter to her family, friends and the world! He degraded her and invaded her personal private affairs! He called her a.....perverted Lesbo. He is a very bad man. He is not a man of God!

Uh, no wait....he didn't.

I think it is a very cagey, brilliant move by the Bush campaign to fire up their religious base- to take away any sting there may be from the Cheney gay-haters by making Kerry the basher. And the core Christian Right is now the target audience. It is so ridiculous and its gettting so much play. But that's how character assasination works.

1. Mary Cheney is openingly, publically gay and works for the Bush campaign. She talks openly and politically about gay issues. She is a public figure and has herself made her sexual orientation the subject of political discourse.

2. Dick Cheney also has talked openly about his daugher's sexual orientation at campaign events- including the very recent VP debate. No flack was made about that mention, in fact Edwards was thanked!

3. Kerry sited her as a gay person he knows, with respect, reflecting on whether on not homosexuality is a "choice" (re: sin). He in effect, complemented her.

4. Lesbian is not a degrading idenity. (Neither is Liberal for that matter!)
