Smile Food/drink vices... have any you'd like to lose?

I honestly think a lot about my food and drink vices. One day last year I decided that if I though I couldn't give up, I would.

Gave up coffee because I thought I was drinking too much. No decaf either.

I don't add sugar to anything anymore.

Gave up soda. I only drink water, some skim milk, some soy milk, and occasional juices.

Bread: That was a tough one, I love bread. Now, I only use pita bread for sandwiches. That's it, no other bread. (I'll bend when it comes to pizza though.)

Gave up french fries. (Easy one.)

Mostly gave up red meat. Not 100%, but when there's an option, I go turkey or chicken. Turkey meatloaf, turkey burger, chicken meal instead of steak.

Gave up pasta too. (Unless I'm out to dinner, special occasion type stuff).

Gave up snacks like Doritos, and chips and pretzels, and even cookies, and ice cream. (I eat red grapes, rice cakes, salad, almonds, vegetables, fruits, yogurts).

I try to eat only fat free cheese. (I just couldn't give up cheese totally.)

I really have given up a lot of stuff, and have stuck to it and feel better. I eat healthier, and cook for myself a lot more. Soy is part of my diet now, and a lot more fruits and vegetables. I eat mostly only chicken, turkey, and fish these days. But I'm not the health nut in my group of friends. I'll have a diet coke when out, and eat pizza, or wings during a ball game, and yes I drink light beer. I haven't gone insane, just dealing with my late 30's I guess.

Compared to how I used to be though, I swear I'm doing a lot better by sticking to the above. I notice the one thing I CRAVE is cookies. Mint Milano and Oreos come to mind immediately. They are my kryptonite. I blame that on all the sugar my body was used to getting everyday; starting back when I was a kid with the sugar cereals, and pixy sticks, and gum, and candy.

I never smoked.

Do you have any food/drink vices you think you can't give up?

Bloody hell Steve, you have given up heaps!!

I dont believe in giving up anything, most things are fine in moderation.

I do make some *wiser* choices though, like I choose the least processed option of whatever I am eating.

Stoneground Wholemeal over White, Whole over Processed, Fruit over Juice etc etc.

I still drink too much, mainly in social situations, dont smoke and am a certified endorphin junkie

Yeah, duck it's a lot. I guess I'm trying to prove to myself that I could do it. To see that I'm not actually physically addicted to sugar or coffee or anything. I hated that I HAD to have a cup of coffee everyday. Or that EVERY meal came with fries.

Throw in that I'm trying to continue to lose weight, I'll stick to this diet a while longer.

I'll have to ease back to a normal diet eventually, and include everything in moderation.

But this is where I am now.

NESTEA.
and snickers.

...Nestea is really pretty bad, but its the only good drink the snack bar sells at school...

Oh, and Salsa con Queso -- which, might I add, I can't find anywhere in this whole bloody country.

I need to eat more, I only do one meal a day and 8 or 12 hours later, nibble on a couple things (fruit slices or cheese varieties).
Overall = Bad for metabolism.

You poor thing. What horrid country is that?

Do they at least have Philadelphia Cream Cheese and bottles of hot salsa so you can make your own?

*waves* Hello...just jumpin right in here...

I have plenty of vices. And think about stopping all the time...The two biggest being smoking and food. I don't really drink much, but only because I'm fat and it's one of the things that is easier for me to put aside, otherwise I'd drink plenty too (like when I was in college !) I recently cut down from an Xtra Large coffee every morning to a Medium...and as sad as it is, that is my biggest cut back. I suck!

I keep telling myself Ill hit a brick wall eventually and be better

It all came together for me this time last year. I decided to stop eating crap and start exercising. I lost about 35 pounds. Which was perfect for me. I still want to lose a little more to look good this summer. NO MORE COOKIES!

I'm telling you though, it's because I turned 37. It finally clicked that I wasn't in my 20's anymore. It really took me that long.

I drink too much beer. Not even to get drunk, just as a beverage.

Probably alot of empty calories I'm consuming that way.

The Republic of China. Unless there's no such thing. In which case, a rouge state of the People's Republic of China. In other words, Taiwan.

EDIT: Though the US accidentally officially acknowlegded that there was a such thing as the ROC when they called it that officially at the meeting between Bush and Hu Jintao the other day... the one where Bush called the chinese president "President Hujin" (well, more like "Pres'dent Hoojin", but eh)

Dammit, I'm sending you some Texas Dorrito Salsa Chips, and a jar of Habeneros Sauce.

(unless you prefer "Pace" Hot Salsa.
