Guilty Songs...
Geez, I love me some Neil Diamond.
I think that makes me alternately post-modern and ironic. I love, and groove heavily to, guilty shameful artists such as: ABBA Bee Gee's Neil Diamond Barry Manilow (MANILOW!) Simon&Garfunkle You?

Ahh, great memories. I remember my dad playing a lot of Neil Diamond on Sunday on the old 8 track; I can hear Chelsea Morning in my head right now. One of my college roommates played the soundtrack from Jonathon Livingston Seagull a lot, too.
I also love Simon and Garfunkel, as well as Paul Simon's solo work (Hearts and Bones is one of the most beautiful songs ever.) Abba always gets my feet moving, as does KC and the Sunshine Band. I love to hear the Carpenters. Karen's smooth as silk, angelic voice gives me chills...so clear. And Linda Rondstadt. ![]()

Carpenters
BeeGees Disco Era Pat Boone (not the Metal parody album, either) Flock of Seagulls Much, much more, I'm afraid. Also Neil Diamond, but I won't play guilty for him. He's one of the finest songwriters of the past 100 years, even if a lot of what he does is schlock. A lot of what Irving Berlin did was schlock, too, but no one's ashamed of him. ;-)

The Pina Colada Song - Rupert Holmes
Convoy - C.W. McCall Anything by The Monkees Twisted Sister I can't help it. I love them all. (and I played the Jonathon Livingston Seagull soundtrack to DEATH. I really liked Kyrie)

As some of you know, my primary listening choice is classical, with broadway and jazz thrown in, plus good comedy and parody songs.
My "guilty pleasure" music is almost all stuff that was ubiquitous when I was in high school, and that makes me nostalgic when I listen too it. Material Girl, Like A Virgin, She-Bop, Video Killed the Radio Star, Pressure. Maybe a couple others, but those are the ones that come to mind immediately. Mind you, I wouldn't have given you a nickel for this stuff at the time. Now I can see quite clearly its superiority over all the shit kids listen to today. I'm sure this is yet another sign of my accelerating decline into geezerhood. |

I love 80s music, and typically don't feel guilty about that.
Except for Relax.

Strangely, that's one of my favorite songs. But since the Monkees represent a secret love, I don't usually play them for other people.
