I found the house I grew up in!

One of them, anyway. I have no idea how I remembered the address, but found this sale listing on the house my parents built in . . . I'd say 1959.

Very cool, because I remember that house so well. I lived in from about age 2 to age 7. Looks like it has been neglected, 'cause the ad says can be restored to its "former architectural glory."

At least take out that ugly green carpet!

I also found the next house we lived in on Google Maps, but I can't remember the exact street address.

Oh you sent me onto google earth.... wasted a half hour or so...

I found the house of my childhood that I was happiest in -my grandparents... well blow me if it didn't sell for a cool half million punds last year

I found the first house I remember.

I found my schools. they haven't changed that much. Can't find interior pics of any of the houses, though. real estate just isn't sold in the same way there.

genuine mid-century modern.

yes, monster, schools are good landmarks, even if you can't remember addresses. But remember your route to school.

It's only a couple of million, Elspode. In some of the richest real estate in the country. A modest house, believe me. The next house we lived in is probably worth twice that. Now.

Lovely Cloud - and to grow up on all that land, wow.
My parents still live in the house I grew up in. The back garden is about 30 yards long and the house is worth about £200k ($400k)

Still, they bought it from the council for about £14k so good luck to them

*grins* Much as I objected to the late, great Council House sell-off, I'm glad people liike your folks benefited. That's who should be getting the benefit of such a scheme, the ordinary householder (as opposed to the big landlords).

Beautiful setting to grow up in Cloud!

The house I grew up in is currently a burned out shell, for sale as seen :P
