Favorite Pasties

What's your favorite pasty (or is the singular pastie?)?

I'm partial to ham and cheese or a good chicken or steak bake.

I'm with UT, although I'd even eat brussels sprout pasties to get them out of the way.

Pastie? I ..don't.. know ..no.. pastie.

I know a little perogies, a little shepards pie, a lot about pot pie but never ever a pastie. I don't even know what they are.

In America, pasties are a very specific, non-food item. This can cause great disruption when your senior English class is reading a bit of British literature out loud.

I voted Cornish, but The Proper Pastie Company does a mean Beef & Stilton.
I worked in a shop owned by a Leicester based bakery for a while. We did a wonderful chilli bake. I ate far too many of them. Because I only worked Saturdays and we were closed Sundays, any cooked foods had to be binned at the end of the day. My older colleague winked at the fact that I might be taking things home. No, what am I saying - she positively encouraged it! Sorry Hampshires. A lot of calories meant for cutomers went into mah belly.

I had a proper - I mean PROPER - Cornish Pastie in the Scilly Isles at a pub called The Turk's Head (named after a knot, unlike the many Saracen's Head pubs which are possibly relics of the crusades!) On the menu they warn you that a pastie is a meal in itself (as it was for the miners) and not to order any sides. They were right. My bf finished mine and I still had to sleep it off!

Oh I was so delighted when the Proper Pastie Co. started a branch in our Student Union shopping centre.

my take on tassels and pasties

I've been a tassel man ever since I saw Elvira twirl hers in "Elvira, Mistress of the Dark"...probably the worst movie I've ever seen six times (for that scene alone).

I've always wanted a date with her...in either persona!
