How Obama got elected

link

Quote:
Zogby Poll

512 Obama Voters 11/13/08-11/15/08 MOE +/- 4.4 points

97.1% High School Graduate or higher, 55% College Graduates

Results to 12 simple Multiple Choice Questions

57.4% could NOT correctly say which party controls congress (50/50 shot just by guessing)

81.8% could NOT correctly say Joe Biden quit a previous campaign because of plagiarism (25% chance by guessing)

82.6% could NOT correctly say that Barack Obama won his first election by getting opponents kicked off the ballot (25% chance by guessing)

88.4% could NOT correctly say that Obama said his policies would likely bankrupt the coal industry and make energy rates skyrocket (25% chance by guessing)

56.1% could NOT correctly say Obama started his political career at the home of two former members of the Weather Underground (25% chance by guessing).

And yet.....

Only 13.7% failed to identify Sarah Palin as the person on which their party spent $150,000 in clothes

Only 6.2% failed to identify Palin as the one with a pregnant teenage daughter

And 86.9 % thought that Palin said that she could see Russia from her "house," even though that was Tina Fey who said that!!*note*

Only 2.4% got at least 11 correct.

Only .5% got all of them correct. (And we "gave" one answer that was technically not Palin, but actually Tina Fey)
*note* there were a few dwellars who claimed she said that - no names need be mentioned.

I wonder if the McCain voters would have done any better or worse.

I'm not clear on what you're trying to say here. What she said was that one could see Russia "from land, here in Alaska."

Are you saying that as she worded it--not from her "house" specifically, but from land--this was not in fact an embarrassing statement for her to make about her foreign policy credentials?

Actually, it was the Republican brand that lost, not so much the candidate. They're the political equivalent of GM right now.

I actually wasn't looking at the poll in terms of taking shots at the Obama supporters, just people in general. How they can ardently support a candidate without knowing shit about his/her actual plan or history whereas they only know the bad things about the opposing side. This absolutely works both ways. Sorry for any confusion, I was on my way out from work when I originally posted.

And they were correct. Palin actually beleives she is on some kind of front line - since she regards Russia as an enemy. Well if Russia is an enemy, then an educated Palin would have known that LA, NYC, Chicago, and the Cellar (Philadelphia) were on the front lines. But then Palin was chosen as a new spokesman for wacko extremists - to do what George Jr did for them. She said she could see Russia - as if that meant she was a brave as soldiers in Khe Sahn.

That Charlie Gibson interview, like the Katie Couric interview, was embarassing. This was the best that wacko extremists in the McCain campaign could come up with?

Informed Americans learn by also demanding reasons why. Extremists wait for the party extremist spokesman to tell them how to think. That was Palin's job.

FWIW, Russia IS visible from Alaska. Russia is NOT visible from Palin's house.

The republic brand has been hijacked - if it can return to its small government, personal liberty roots, I think it can and will win in the midterms.

Playing games does not solve your problem, classicman. You are spinning like Rush Limbaugh. She claimed she was on some kind of front line - therefore she understood national security. Why do you want to defend somebody so dumb that only a wacko extremist could love her?

I think that's where they need to be to win, but I don't know if that timeframe is do-able.

I was just clearing this fact up. What she was purported to have said was that Russia was visible from her home. That was NOT true. That was a skit from SNL. There are parts of Russia visible from Alaska. That IS true. I honestly didn't know that and apparently wasn't alone in that. I had forgotten how close we really are to Russia - geographically.

That she tried to parlay that into a broader perspective of National security or "wisdom" was/is ridiculous.
