I haven't felt inspired to write anything lately...but finally, inspiration.
As I was leaving work to catch the El, some guy that may have been a transient began asking me for what I thought was money. Before he could even finish, I said, "No thanks." (He was actually asking for a cigarette...and given what cigarettes cost these days, I don't donate them anymore.) So he was like, "No thanks? Well thanks officer!" Kinda loud...it spooked me a little. I think the reason he called me officer was because I had on a blue dress shirt and black pants that sorta resemble a Philadelphia cop's uniform. Now, do you see uniformed cops roaming the streets with an undone dress shirt and a t-shirt underneath?
Then, as I'm walking home from the bus stop, a car passes by. A girl of maybe 13-16 yells out the passenger window, "Hey dude!" A reflex kicked in...I immediately blurted out, "Hey stupid!"...probably loud enough for her to hear.
Maybe I was hallucinating...maybe someone slipped me a drug...or maybe it was just them. Oh well, at least no one got hurt...and the guy that yelled at me isn't nearly as bad as the other street people that populate around our office building.
