Monnie that's just so brilliant lol.

Of course these days, ten to a penny you'll hear the music of Doctor Who at the proms. It's been re-embraced as quintessentially British since you were last here. Can't move in the toy shops for plastic daleks and light-up sonic screwdrivers. The BBC have even made their Christmas ident along a Who theme (the Doctor riding his tardis like a sleigh, with reindeer pulling it along through the snow.) It's the new Christmas day 'tradition' watching the Christmas special, has been for the last 4 years.

And yes, I can turn any topic to Doctor Who :P

I love that Fat Les video. I particularly like the drunken slut following shakily behind lol.

Worryingly, the Radio Times review for the last episode says, "Be prepared to cry buckets of tears." I mean I was prepared anyway - I'm still not over Ianto for goodness sake - but if a hardbitten journo says that... I think I need to buy a canoe.

Good choice Mon.

And who can forget....

Still makes the hairs on my arms stand up.

Less well known but still good fun (I bought it to annoy my colleagues)

Not wanting to be a whinging Scot here but being British has Fech all to do with Engerlaund failing in the world cup, christ you won in 1966 by default by being host nation and playing every game at wembley.
The only team in the tournament to play at the same ground throughout.
40 odd years you lot have gone on about it, England have played in the world cup 12 times so deduct 2 times as getting in for free as host nation and winners you've only qualified for the tournament 10 times once more than Scotland,In the words of the Bard "Gies's peace"

Being an Unglish person abiding in Scautland I agree absolutely with what Bebop said (and, of course, I'm really angling for a sight of him in the kilt in the flesh!).

I never thought I would see anything that would make Red Sox and Cubs fans look less deranged by comparison......and there's and entire country of them.

hm bit of a tangent but ok..... I was just trying to show two different examples of English/British people coming out of their shells and showing their true colors..... or something

Quite right, darlings.
I honestly forgot the title of the thread after seeing "Vindaloo" again. I'm a very English girl, and although I embrace being British and European also, there is a part of me that wants to stand out as being English, in the same way the Welsh and Scots do.

According to American standards I am half-Irish. Which probably makes me a true Brit. But my heart is completely English.

I'd stand shoulder to shoulder against enemies of the British Isles (that's my nod to my Grandad's heritage). The same against enemies of Europe. But to me, home is always England, and specifically Bucks. And there's nothing wrong with that.

Apart from anything else (and germane to this thread) Brits share a common background.
Wemight squabble like siblings, but we still long to hear Forfar four, East Fife five or Ivor the Engine, or the filth of Frankie Boyle, or adore Irvine Welsh.

This is home, despite manmade boundaries.

So I've included the original for you (haha)
Because it includes all the shame, hurt and disappointment of being shite. But also the amazing attitude of every Brit supporter - English or otherwise. None of us have ever stopped dreaming after all.

We've always been Davids, whichever of the four kingdoms you support. And I know I'd support a British team/ sportsman any time I can. Just a shame we have to band together for the Eurovision. I can't help but think a Welsh or Scottish entry might just manage more than nil point (sorry NI, still too many killers there to garner a European vote).
