Why does Greece always march first in the Parade of Nations?

This was the question I set to my grandson, who's obsessed with Percy Jackson and The Olympians. Which opens today! As does the Olympics. I'm excited!

Wasn't it because the olympics originated in Greece? They invented them, so they get to march first.

uh . . . yeah. it was a rhetorical question, sam. Unless you're a 10 year old homeschooler. I also asked him who was Odysseus and in what famous story did he appear? and to draw Zeus's family tree.
