Google Docs

I am learning a lot about it. Seems really a great way to bring docs and info that people share together and all you need is internet access.

I am the Treasurer of an organization and we do a lot of common reporting and gathering dissemination of data. The way the docs are set up, like Excel light, when they submit the data to the Google doc link it automatically populates and updates the data that everyone can see. I am just learning how to use it but can alread see that it will have some great uses.

Anyone else use it?

What do you use it for and what do you think about it?

Thanks.

I use it for a lot of things, personal and professional. The really great thing is that you can experience complete system failure and know for certain that your information will still be there. And you can get it from anywhere. It's how things ought to be.

I love it. Kept momwolf's medlist on there, could access it from any emergency room and have the most updated version for the nurse. We also briefly used it at work as a means of keeping updated on information that could be shared by all the crisis staff and also read by the ambulance so they didn't have to constantly ask what they were supposed to be doing next.

Administration found out we were being more efficient and shut us down because they weren't invited to our doc ... now have an in-house version that they can spy on. One of the cow orkers told them about it because she thought it was cool ... she failed to understand the corporate dynamic.

I used it to collaborate with two other translators that I've never met to share technical vocabulary when we discovered that we were working on different parts of the same very large document. That was way cool !

Pretty cool, glad to see others are using it with confidence. I was leary of the whole Cloud concept at first. Seems pretty secure.

I use it a lot for personal stuff I want to be able to access from anywhere. There are a few things I don't like about it from a word processing standpoint, and converting text to another format doesn't always work. But still; it's handy. and free.

I use it for the swim coaches to submit payroll and parents at the school to submit scrip orders. Also other people have used it for volunteer sign ups we've been involved in and this year for co-ordinating summer camps so a group of friends do the same camps at the same time (ours aren't doing any, but it was interesting to watchthat document unfold -everyone added camps they had found and dates they were available etc)

I think we've only begun to explore collaborative documents. BTW, did you notice Wikipedia was down today for a while? One of its servers apparently overheated.

pesky things
