Battlestar Galactica

Sometimes you have a memeory of a movie or TV show you thought was really cool, when you were a kid, but when you watch it as an adult, it sucks! Battle of the Planets (G Force) is one such example--it sucks HARD.

Battlestar Galactica is a refreshing break from this trend. Battlestar Galactica is motherƒucking awesome. I'm watching it (the original 1978 series) right now on Wii/Netflix. How can I begin to describe how many things totally rule about this show?

#1: It is extremely elaborate for a TV show. The sets, costumes, effects, all appear "movie" quality.
#2: Something I didin't remember from when I was a kid: the spiritual/mystical elements. The intro has a monologue that could be out of Von Daniken's Chariots of the Gods. The show is packed with psuedo-Egyptian visuals. Adama is the religious leader of his people. I recognize, now, that the rituals they perform are distinctly Pagan in nature--the weddings are handfastings (just like Pooka and I had).
#3: Cylons. They are as awesome now as they ever were. In the impact they were designed to have, they are 100% successful.

I could go on, but I have episodes waiting in my queue...

After this I have to watch Caprica. No spoilers please!

Pagan? Maybe so. Apparently it's dripping with Mormon symbolism.

Funny, I thought Cattlecar Galactica was lame when it aired originally, and it's just as bad now.

What he meant to say is he'll plant the seed, stir the kid's interest, then tell you they want it.
