Being a goalie's mom can be awesome....

After a very tough hockey tournament in the UP, this afternoon Hector's team -who were last in their division- played the team who was last in the other division.

They played like boys possessed they were fantastic. They won! They got a shut out. The MVP award was given to the whole team, who selected Hector as the first player to take it home. He blocked 15 shots.

I could barely watch the last 5 minutes, and as the last few seconds ticked down, inevitably the other team got the puck to our goal again. And Hector caught the shot with 0.0 seconds on the clock.

Bloody Fantastic

Go Hector!

(although giving the whole team the MVP award dilutes the idea of giving out awards. It's a personal thing. I don't hold with the everybody gets a trophy for showing up trend, either.)

They understand prize-giving versus award earning too.

I think that was sort of the point. The team aren't into MVP awards (it's house not travel), but the tourney provided one/insisted, and the game was so awesome because they really did play as a team instead of a group of individuals. Doesn't stop me being proud mom, though

This is from the official photog's site, but it provides links to share, so I'm figuring it's OK for me to share But just to credit, it's Resort Photography LLC
