Glogg

This is a nice Christmas Scandinavian drink for a cold night...........

Ingredients:

Part 1:
Dry Red Wine - 3 bottles
Vodka - 1 1/2 cups
Brandy - 1 1/2 cups
Cinnamon Sticks - 2
Lemon Peel - 1 (the whole peel)
Figs - 250g (about 9oz.)
Peeled Cardamom Seeds - 15
Cloves - 15
Ginger - 15 pieces

Part 2:
Port or Madeira Wine - 1 bottle (750ml)
Beer - 1 bottle (12oz)
Sugar - 5oz. or to taste.
Raisins and nuts to decorate
Cardamom Seeds - 5
Cloves - 5

Directions:

Mix Part 1 in a big enough pot and heat to a boil. Immediately turn off heat and leave overnight (some people put it outside in the cold, others just put it in the fridge).

It is also an option to let the raisins and nuts soak in the mix as well. Do it to taste.

Next day, reheat and add sugar and the remaining cardamom seeds and 5 cloves. Add the Port or Madeira next.

When serving, add the raisins and nuts to each portion. Pour in the beer as well.

Enjoy!!

P.S. It is also cool to serve the raisins and nuts separate as an appetizer. Keep away from the children....

yebbut what if I'm having a party? How do I make enough for more than just me? And what's the point of the one bottle of unspecified beer?

Makes for technicolor hurling. 33 years later and it is still vivid in my mind. Thankfully, I was not the hurler.

Well, increase the portions if you think you need more....

As for the beer, it is for extra flavoring. Use to taste...
