Music you like that just isn't "you"

I tend not to be a fan of specific musical artistes. I bought music when I was a kid. I bought 45s not 33s. I rarely liked more than one song by a particular artist. I had a very eclectic singles collection. As I got older, I found a few bands I really appreciated, so bought the CD. But I'm still a singles gal at heart. And generally a rock chick.

Beest (partner of over 20 years) expressed surprise that I played this:

It's totally not my thing in general, but I like it.

Here's another:

What music do you like that surprises/perplexes those who know you the best?

Can't beat a bit o'Spirit in the Sky..

I've posted these two in the whatcha lissnin to thread, but this is definately a major departure for me musicwise.

This one is even more of a 'Really not my sort of thing', but I somehow love it:

Monster, I recognise myself in your description.
And half the albums I have owned over the years (all lost/ broken/ lent out of course) have surprised people.

I had the Beastie Boys album in my car along with Bizet's Carmen.
My Dad taped Carter USM's You Fat Bastard off me, to surprise the young lads at work. I loved 30 Something (the album)
And I loved Stiff Little Fingers (band) and had Alternative Ulster (song) on my MP3 when I went to Amsterdam.

I can't think of a single song that I don't think is me, though. It's just other people that are surprised.

I lie!

I don't like David Bowie in general.
This is not my style either.
I love it.

I just LOVED Sheena Easton, and this song is so so so NOT me. Lady waiting on her hard-workin' man to get home to spoil her? HA!

(I swapped out one I found with the video. I swear I had that outfit but in purple.)

And another:
