HPV is best known as the virus that causes cervical cancer in women, but because of better screening, the rate of such cancers has declined over time. The authors predict that if current trends continue, oral cancers may become the most common HPV-related cancer by 2020, eclipsing cervical cancer.

"The burden of invasive HPV-caused cancers will shift from women to men in the U.S., largely due to the rise of HPV-positive oropharynx cancers among men," study senior author Dr. Maura Gillison of the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center in Columbus told CNN.

There's an HPV vaccine. But it has to be taken before you become sexually active and people aren't vaccinating their kids.

Think it was coincidence or intentional that it was recommended for boys a week after the mouth/throat cancer study came out? Think they were holding the study to release just before the recommendation? The old one-two punch? I kind of do, with no evidence.

If I'm reading it correctly, it is the men who are performing oral and getting the virus from their ladies (who are, presumably, also going to get cervical cancer eventually.) This just eliminates the sexist double standard; now the two of them can die together in a pact of sexual promiscuity.
