A Notepad Question. I think.

I'm talking about the Windows Notepad.

Let's say that I saw a picture I liked, that was copy-protected, so to steal it, I press the "Print Screen" button, for a screen capture, then promptly forgot to paste the picture into MSPaint (or whatever program) right away (let's say that, because that's what I did). Then, before I pasted that screen shot, I copy/pasted a sentence or phrase with Notepad.

Is there a simple way I can go back and find/retrieve that screen capture?

There was some live updating info I tried to capture a screen shot of, but, then I got distracted, and forgot about it til I started copy/pasting again.

I assume the screen cap is copied to Notepad. As opposed to some other program/app.

As always, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Nope.

Just one copy buffer in Windows. It can hold ONE thing. Well, up to one thing. Picture, sure. Sentence? Sure. Whatever? Sure. It has a memory exactly one "copy" operation long. Once you copy something to it, that's what you've got. When you "copy" something else to it, THAT'S the thing you've got.

Sorry bro.

I thought that the clipboard can store multiple things (like up to 24). Does that only work withing Office applications?

Was the picture copy-protected enough that it didn't appear in your temporary internet files?

Ahhhh, shit. I have FF set to delete all that stuff whenever I close FF.

Damn.

Double damn.

With a side order of damn.

I was hoping for something like a Notepad history.

Oh, well...weren't that important anyway.

Thanks, all!

All is not lost.

Open up you computer case. Find the hard drive. Pry it open with a toothpick. Somewhere in there are the 1s and 0s that you are looking for. You'll need a torch. Scan the drive visually until you find what you're after. Then copy down the pattern of 0s and 1s with a pencil and paper. Put the computer back together and retype the data manually. For a picture, you can rebuild it pixel by pixel in paint.

Easy.

I had a version of Office at work a few years back that had a multiple-item clipboard that did its best to strangle the system when actually used.
