Artist on Drugs

Yes, I know, it is hard to believe, but Brian Lewis Saunders is an artist and he does drugs.

But he does them scientifically, or at least methodically. He took - mostly one at a time - pretty much every drug there is (heroin, ecstasy and LSD are notably absent) and did a self-portrait under the influence of each.

The portraits are here ( http://cultso.com/artist-takes-every...fter-each-use/ ) in alphabetical order by drug.

Including the ones he did in hospital on the drugs they gave him after he #$%&ed himself up with all those other drugs. Like I said, hard to believe.

Here are some samples.

That bath salts one gives me the willies. *shudder*

That is fascinating, though!

Looking at the pictures at the link, but not bothering to read the text there, it appears that he isn't necessarily trying to do a self portrait that accurately represents how he looks. He is clearly trying to show how he feels. Which means that the bath salts one doesn't necessarily mean he loses motor control and focus with bath salts. It's more likely that it means he feels all discombobulated when he took them. And he's trying to show that feeling through his work.

More expressionistic than impressionistic or even realistic.
