Google Analytics raises more questions than it answers
From time to time I log into my business email just in case someone finds my website and decides they want to hire me or something crazy like that. Then I head over to google analytics to see what sort of traffic I'm generating and how I might be trending despite not updating my website for at least two years.
Often I can tell who was looking at my website by city, because I know only one person in East Cornflake, Vermont and they went to my contact page ten seconds before they called my cell# because they can't remember it. Other times I get visits from weird places like the Congo and it shows that they bounced 3 seconds after the welcome page loaded. There is also a stalkerish ex GF who shows up from time to time (again, the only person I know in that city who would have any reason to visit my site and then spend an hour looking at all 100 or so of my photos) I also look at traffic sources, direct, keyword search, and links from other sites. Tonight I noticed someone in Turkey spent a half an hour on my site and looked at 50 some odd photos. Very strange. I checked how they came to the site and it was through a search for "Chicken fight club" Surprisingly my site is the second hit on google for that phrase. I was glad they stayed, but I can only imagine their confusion and or disappointment when they discovered I am not hosting a chicken fight club website. Even when they got to the image that directed them to my site, they'd have to mouse over image info to see the fight club reference. Nor do I have any idea why I am so popular in Malaysia.

*returns from searching chicken fight club*
Wow .... foot, your work is stunning. I love the people and the farms & farmers sections of your portfolio ... and, and, and ... all of it. It's poetry. Oh, my. I can see why the Turk who happened upon your site while looking for chicken fights stayed and browsed. And now I know: the first rule of Baby Chicken Fight Club is ... there is no Baby Chicken Fight Club. ![]()

Funny they were not searching for "cock fight" but maybe that got them other photos of things they did not want...

Google has just announced a new SEARCH algorithm, Hummingbird.
My question is not about that, but instead has to do with the MS product called BING. Does BING go to the Google database to do it's search and then uses it's own algorithm to make the presentation to the User ? Or does each of these various Search Engines do their own web-crawling and proprietary database building ? |

For some reason (since it's been here for almost a year), I have only now just seen the clip of Georgia and Toddler Fight Club. I have to second Big V: I love that clip.
@foot3: where did she get the black eye? I ask because I was famous for things like that as a child. The story was always worth telling. ![]()

Ortho,
I don't remember, but I coached her to reply to peoples' inquiries with "That's nothing, you should see the other kid..."
