Software switchover

The software that the Cellar runs on, vBulletin, has released a major upgrade version that adds a ton of interesting things and a better user interface. I initially put off upgrading until there were a bunch of sites doing bug reporting on it, and at this point they've released a bug fix release and so there is no reason to put it off further.

Except for the fact that it's a pain in my ass to do it, of course, because of all the little changes that went into the system in running what we have now that won't directly convert to the new system...

Still, it has to happen, because the new version is really good. We want to use it. And so I'm saying now that it could happen any time. I will try to do it in the off hours.

This will mean a big change in how the place looks and feels, so one day you will show up and find that it's all new and different. If this happens, do not panic!

I've never played with vB, but is there an option to allow users to set gender in their profile in the current or next version? It gets awfully confusing around here, sometimes, and dropping a random pronoun on a guess can be dangerous.

Some of you guys sound so girly. :p

There isn't anything in the default of it all. But I noticed that one of my favorite places added "Location" to the list of things shown per-post, and that was interesting.

New soft ware ,
Do what you feel is best for the cellar
as Bruce said "In Undertoad we trust."

Is their any possibility of haveing a dir of ALL the imeges from the cellar , past and present ???? Thumbnails , etc,,,,,

Just a thought as you were saying a while back that folks were stealing band width for the smiles and a IOTD or 2 . It seems to me it would be easyer to trac sutch if they were seperate from but attached to the cellar . Besides it would be fun to look at some of the images that have been here with out haveing to search for them .
just my 2 cents ,

At risk of raising anybody's ire ... me too.

I didn't care in the sense of "so and so has more posts that you know who" kind of way.

It was actually just kind of neat watching the numbers.

I don't rate ANYBODY based on length of service or number of posts.

I've seen shitty posts from old timers, and great ones from hit-and-run newbies.

Even some of the "bordering on insufferably annoying" posters have brought up some good, interesting, or thought provoking topics.

It all about what everybody brings to the table, after all.

what new fun shit will we have to play with?

can we collaborate and come up with new post count triggered titles for those above the ones you have in the can already?
