Roll Call
i was just reading an old thread when i found myself rolling on the floor laughing my ass off. someone accused bruce of being a republican. so even though most of us kind of know where the others stand, i think we should make it easy for all newbies. everyone give us your political affiliation and, if you want, a few words about your philosophy. (this doesn't need to be a 15page tw-style manifesto asking for the smoking gun.)

Why put yourself in a convenient box for others?
Shouldn't we be able to post political thoughts and have them be judged based on their merit? I don't want to have my ideas dismissed or embraced simply because of my party affiliation. |

i am an independent. i do lean right on many issues but i refuse to be a member of the D's or R's. i will vote for the individual who i believe will do a better job in areas that i consider to be priorities.
i support some safety nets provided by the government to catch people when they fall, but i am not a supporter of most entitlements. realistic, but firm limits should be enforced. i do support a true flat tax. i don't mind paying more tax $ than my neighbor, but why should i give away a higher % of my income? i do support a larger military capable of taking the fight anywhere, anytime, any way necessary. although i understand the necessity of exporting some jobs, i think it should be a crime to bounce government call center calls to india, or anywhere else for that matter. i am in support of reform in the insurance and medical industries but oppose a nat'l healthcare plan. i believe public education is in the toilet and some type of privatization would improve the situation.

I'm a gun owning, authoritarian-anarchist member of the Issue Party.

![]() Nah, it's more along the lines of: "I wish people had the sense to govern themselves so we wouldn't need a gov't but they don't so there you go."

Mostly liberal independent. Last election, I voted Libertarian because I like the ideas they have that would have a chance in hell of passing (personal liberties), but like all parties, it would be a disaster if they took the presidency and both houses. This year, I'm ABB.

I hold my principles tightly, my issues tentatively, and my party in disdain.

I was never into politics much until the last few years, when I began to realize (and later see) what a truly poor U.S. President can do at the helm. I wouldn't go so far as to affiliate myself with a specific political party, because I prefer to vote for the man rather than the party... but for this election, I can firmly say that I absolutely will NOT vote Republican. I'd sooner pound my balls flat with a wooden hammer than have Bush for another four years... particularly since this time around, he won't have to restrain himself at all in anticipation of being re-elected. Scary thought.

politics schmolitics
i guess i'm an independant by default, but when i was 18, i registered as a dem. i have apathy. i'll vote for kerry though, cuz, i'd rather let H_P hammer my balls flat with a wooden mallot than see gwb back in the house. On another year, i'd go libertarian, but not this time. im not taking any chances. i think the whole practice of partisan politics is a cop out, so i resist lumping myself in with any one party. it should be more about individual issues than what color coat you wear. what animal you associate with better, etc.... if there was a "not Bush" choice on the ballot, i'd poke that chad. |
